Nikica Jelavic
Reorted that we are interested in the Rangers man. Croat has scored 17 goals for them this season, but talks are informal and they want more than £6m. What do our Jockenese gers supportters think? Abi?

Not for more than £4M. Not worth more than that.

Re: Nikica Jelavic
There is absolutely no way on God's earth that he is worth anywhere near £9m and if we pay it, we are complete mugs. If we don't go up this year, we will have to sell him for £4-5m and we would have wasted a lot of cash. Kenny Miller scored shedloads of goals in the SPL - he was a roaring success in the Premier League wasn't he?! And that, after all, is where we hope to be. I would MUCH rather sign Rhodes - his variety of goals really reminds me of Dean Ashton, he is five years younger and so would probably be reasonably happy to stay in the Championship for another season if needed. I have spoken to fellow Hammers fans this evening who would be equally horrified if we paid such a ridiculous fee for Jelavic and would much rather see us spend a chunk, or even the whole amount (with a good amount used for incentives and add-ons) on Rhodes.

Are we going in with a better offer for Rhodes, or is that all dead and gone?

Looking more likely that this will be our new striker with the Rangers boss confirming interest from West Ham. Apparently even Liverpool like this guy.

As soon as we land a "prolific goalscorer", we need to buy someone that will be able to
put in some crosses for him to get on the end of....

Re: Nikica Jelavic
Jelavic's father:
Philip Jelavic said: “Yes, we know about the interest of West Ham, and Queens Park Rangers. But Nikica has five or six clubs interested, including that of the great Liverpool. As for West Ham and QPR, I think that Nikica is more ambitious than that. I think it’s most likely that he will sign for Liverpool. But there are still a few days until the end of the transfer window, so we will wait and see.”

Think his dads heads up his arse. he p[lays in the micky mouse league not the premiership! As for Liverpoo hardly pulling up trees at the moment are they.
Stuff him, let him play in the independent republic of salmondland, see how much he is getting in five years time

Re: Nikica Jelavic
David Gold has confirmed that West Ham have now made a formal bid for wantaway Ranger's striker Nikica Jelavic and are waiting for a formal response. In a tweet late last night, David Green answered a tweeter's question:
"any news on Jelavic yet.. Hi Stuart. Still no news DG"
The bid is believed to be for £7.2M, and, according to SPL correspondent Daniel Gordan, it is believed that Rangers are satisfied with the bid, and it is now up to the player to agree terms, although this is unconfirmed, which, of course, contradicts DG's tweet..."still no news". Despite the claims of Rangers supporters, it is known that Liverpool are are distancing themselves from false reports ostensibly circulated by Jelavic's father/agent that he was likely to sign for them.
Many twitterati are also claiming that the Hammers have a £3M bid in for the man who last scored against them, Nottingham Forests's 23 year old creative midfielder, Lewis McGugan. He was involved in many of Forest's dangerous opportunities on Saturday and was the scorer of their injury-time goal, which was a cracker. Forest are on a fairly tight budget, and it is suggested they are reluctantly entertaining this offer to bring more new players in. I hate to say it, but given their play on Saturday, I would say patience is there only need right now; I felt they certainly acquitted themselves well at the Boleyn.
Strong rumours purportedly from withing the club also insist that if Jelavic or Mcgugan fail to materialize, then West Bromwich's 30 year old Russian Born Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie is next on the list.
At the very least, these are interesting stories. What do you think?

Re: Nikica Jelavic
very quiet , no one has too much cash to splash really.
poor old Portsmouth now need to find at least £1.6M just to stay alive as the tax man is now at the door.
Maynard is available at a not too higher price looking around the £3M mark but do we just try to finish the season with what we got and save the cash for real improvement in the summer as we will need it

As we are getting further down the second list of 25, and are not going to get who we really want maybe we should just stick with what we have.
Hopefully getting Matty back will make the difference....

Re: Nikica Jelavic
Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic says he would have no reservations about quitting Scotland to move to the Championship.
The Croatia international has been linked with a host of sides including Premier League QPR and Liverpool - but Championship promotion chasers West Ham are also in the hunt for his signature.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed the club have enquired about the availability of the prolific striker and Jelavic insists joining them would be a tempting option.
He told the Daily Record: "West Ham are a great club and not a Second Division outfit.
"They are a famous English Premier League club who happened to be relegated last season and will return to the top division next season.
"It would be nice to play there, but I am playing at a big club so it wouldn't bother me if I had to stay and anyway I don't even call my agent about a transfer these days.
"I know Rangers are in a tough financial situation and if they need to sell me I will go, but I would also be happy to stay."
Rangers boss Ally McCoist is determined to hang on to his star frontman in spite of the Hammers' interest.
McCoist has confirmed talks have taken place between Gers chairman Craig Whyte and his West Ham counterpart David Sullivan.
"I spoke to Craig and I believe Craig had a conversation with David Sullivan," said McCoist.
"But Craig was very keen to point out that absolutely no offers had been made at all. I think it was just a pretty informal chat they had."
