    FRIENDLY: ENGLAND v BELGIUM

    Venue: Wembley Stadium
    Date: Saturday 2 June
    Kick-off: 17:15 BST

Coverage: Full commentary on BBC Radio 5 live

England manager Roy Hodgson expects Scott Parker to be fully fit for the start of Euro 2012.

Hodgson had been hit by a double injury blow having lost experienced midfield duo Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard.

Parker joined up with the squad with an Achilles injury but is a starter for Saturday's friendly with Belgium.

Hodgson said: "He is getting fitter by the day. We are happy by the time we play France [he] will be in good physical shape."

In the absence of Barry and Lampard, 31-year-old Tottenham midfielder Parker's presence in the England team has become crucial - even though he only has 12 caps.

But his participation in the tournament had been in question after he managed just two minutes of action in Spurs' last four league matches.
    Belgium's Premier League stars

    Vincent Kompany (Manchester City)
    Moussa Dembele (Fulham)
    Simon Mignolet (Sunderland)
    Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal)
    Marouane Fellaini (Everton)
    Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)
    Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea)

Hodgson added: "He came to join us having not played for Tottenham in last two or three games in the league. He has taken part in every training session, and played 60 minutes against Norway and is available for the game."

The England manager confirmed Parker would partner captain Steven Gerrard in the centre of midfield at Wembley against Belgium.

It is the last game before England open their Euro 2012 campaign against France on Monday, 11 June and Hodgson is rightly weary of the threat posed by their opening opponents.

He said: "England and France has always been a very important fixture.

"We have read this week how importantly the French see it. We are looking forward to it. We know it won't be easy because they are on a fantastic unbeaten run.

"Unless Estonia pull off a shock it will be 21 games unbeaten but all runs must come to an end sometime and hopefully we can be the one to end that run."

Losing Lampard 'huge blow' - Gerrard

Hodgson also revealed Michael Carrick could still have a future with England despite asking not to be considered for Euro 2012.

Despite seeing Lampard pick up a thigh injury in training, skipper Gerrard insists his team-mates have not been taking it easy in the build-up to the Belgium game to ensure they stay fit for the finals.

The Liverpool player said: "First and foremost it is a huge blow that Frank has to go home.

"But as players, when you go out to train and play you have to give 100% and can't afford to hold back because you can pick up injuries.

"Training today was high tempo and physical but we all came through and fingers crossed we can all stay fit now."

Cahill underwent a scan amid fears he fractured his jaw in a collision with England keeper Joe Hart in Saturday's 1-0 friendly win over Belgium.

"The feedback is we're hoping his jaw is not cracked," said Brooking.

On John Terry's hamstring injury, Brooking added: "The medical staff are hopeful he will be able to stay."

That little shit that pushed Cahill last night should of been red carded , blatant intentional foul

    Ratings from last night

    Joe Hart
6 — GOT away with risky footwork when he was fouled by Chelsea starlet Romelu Lukaku.

And he was also beaten by Guillaume Gillet’s volley — that luckily for Hart crashed off a post and bounced to safety.

But Manchester City’s titlewinning stopper showed his reflexes and handling are still sharp with a fine save in the first half from Eden Hazard and late on when he saved Marouane Fellaini’s shot.

He will probably have busier matches when the Euros get underway.

    GLEN JOHNSON

6 —ONLY out-and-out right-back left in Roy Hodgson’s squad following Kyle Walker’s injury — so he cannot afford an injury at this stage.

Still questions about his defensive w**k and he was caught for pace by Dries Mertens — but also put in a decent block early on in the game.

He was much more comfortable going forward and should be providing more of a threat down the flanks.

His runs were not productive yesterday and he lacked composure when he was taking on opponents.

    GARY CAHILL

6- FORCED off after 19 minutes following a crunching collision with team-mate Joe Hart.

Should have whacked the ball into the stands when he defended a ball over the top — but wanted Hart to claim the ball as Mertens chased him down.

Lucky to get away with it but Mertens still pushed him into Hart and the Chelsea defender needed treatment.

It allowed Joleon Lescott another chance to impress Roy Hodgson and claim a place beside John Terry in the starting line-up for Euro 2012.

    JOHN TERRY

7 — FIRST England appearance since last November but felt like he had never been away — now has given Hodgson an injury scare.

Commanding when the ball went into the box, although the Belgians tried to avoid doing that as they knew JT would be difficult to beat in the air.

Defence appear to be more confident with their ex-captain playing and it will be a straight fight between Cahill and Lescott to partner him. Will hope to make up for his frustration after missing out on the Champions League final.

    ASHLEY COLE

7 — COMPOSED again and rarely looked like getting in trouble.

Hodgson will have one of the best left-backs in the world when England start the Euros — and Cole again showed he is one of the most solid performers in the squad.

Could have joined in with more attacks but was at his defensive best to deny Chelsea team-mate Romelu Lukaku with a fine block.

Cole will reach 100 caps if England somehow get to the final of the Euros — and will probably reach his ton next season if they crash out early.

    JAMES MILNER

6 — TOOK the Manchester City midfielder more than 20 minutes to supply his first cross from the right wing.

Eventually set up a decent chance for skipper Gerrard — but needed to have got the ball into the penalty area more frequently.

Milner cannot be faulted for effort and his tireless running is a real asset for Hodgson.

And he should be fresh for the tournament after starting just 17 Premier League games last season.

    SCOTT PARKER

7 — BATTLING against an Achilles injury recently but rolled up his sleeves and put in another good shift.

Threw himself at anything the Belgians tried and also picked up a booking for a hack at Jan Vertonghen — a welcome to London for the man set to join him at Tottenham.

Does the dirty w**k for England and that will be very important when the tournament starts.

He just needs to keep himself fit or Hodgson will be in massive trouble after losing Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry already.

    STEVEN GERRARD

7 — PLAYED an important role in the winner after winning the ball in Belgian territory and giving it to Ashley Young who put Danny Welbeck through on goal.

The Liverpool midfielder would have liked to surge forward more often but his defensive w**k was also very important in keeping the Belgians at bay.

When he did get into the penalty area he was unlucky to have a goalbound effort well blocked when his cool finish was heading into the bottom corner. His effort with the rebound was also kept out.

    ALEX OXLADE—CHAMBERLAIN

6 — THE exciting Arsenal prospect produced a performance of huge promise on his first start for his country.

He went on some exciting runs and also had two decent opportunities in the first 45 minutes — one went wide and he scuffed the other.

Fans will be more excited about the 18-year-old starting down the left flank than if Liverpool’s Stewart Downing is given the role.

The Ox has raw talent and is fearless — which could be just what England need at the tournament.

    ASHLEY YOUNG

6 — SET up the winner with a perfectly-weighted pass for Welbeck to run on to.

Was quiet before that but showed his killer instinct when it mattered and threaded the ball through the Belgian defence.

So important to England’s creativity when Wayne Rooney is suspended and will be looking to make a bigger impact at the finals.

Looks like developing a decent understanding with Welbeck which could be the key to unlocking the opposition.

    DANNY WELBECK — STAR MAN

8 — BURST into life when he was sent through on goal nine minutes from half-time.

And the Manchester United striker’s lobbed finish past Belgian No 1 Simon Mignolet showed he had lost none of his sharpness while out with an ankle injury at the end of the season.

Hodgson now has a really tough decision to make now on who should lead his attack while Rooney is suspended.

Welbeck has put his case forward even if he was quiet before slotting home the winner.

    ENGLAND SUBS

JOLEON LESCOTT (Cahill 19) 7 Ended up covered in blood and needed to be strapped up like Terry Butcher. Brave effort and could now be rewarded with starting place.

WAYNE ROONEY (Welbeck 54) 6 Guilty of losing possession and nothing quite came off for Wazza. Better to save his best form for his return from suspension.

JERMAIN DEFOE (Young 66) 7 Livewire up front and was unlucky not to make his mark when hit the post with angled right-foot shot. Could be an impact sub for Hodgson.

THEO WALCOTT (Oxlade-Chamberlain 67) 6 Provided a much-needed attacking option and set up a chance for Defoe as he looked to cement a starting place. Pace to frighten any defence.

PHIL JAGIELKA (Terry 70) 6 Belgium piled on the pressure when he came on and England were fortunate to escape.

JORDAN HENDERSON (Gerrard 83) 5 Too late to make an impact. Just happy to be part of the squad after injuries gave him his chance.
