Anfield line up Upton Park raid?
Italian source CalcioMercato are reporting that West Ham forward Carlton Cole is set for an Upton Park exit in January and suggest that Liverpool could well be in the running to sign the England international.
Whilst it’s true that Brendan Rodgers does not have an extensive supply of striking options a move to sign the 28 year old Hammers man is a little hard to swallow, however it is true that the Anfield side have been consistently linked with interest in the hard working, if hardly prolific, forward over the years.
In the summer of 2010 the Daily Mail stated that Roy Hodgson was close to bringing the Upton Park man to Merseyside and the Metro also felt such a deal was on the cards.
Cole netted 17 goals last term to help West Ham to achieve promotion back to the top tier but has failed to complete a 90 minute run out this term and is yet to find the back of the net. This may have led to speculation that Sam Allardyce wants to sell the striker.
Allardyce brought in Modibo Maiga from Sochaux and signed Liverpool forward Andy Carroll on a loan deal over the summer, moves that could well indicate his desire to seek other attacking options.
However a move to take Carlton Cole to Liverpool seems highly unlikely, not least because one of the reasons Brendan Rodgers opted to offload Carroll was that he didn’t fit with his style of play and one would imagine such an assertion would be equally true of the big West Ham marksman.
Carlton Cole has netted 57 goals during his six years at West Ham in 213 appearances for the East London side.

i'd say thats one of the daftest rumours I ever heard, but faubert going on loan to real madrid tops that and actually happened so who really knows.

I'm suprised Cole got 17 goals last year, thats more then i would have said he scored and not a BAD return.

I'm normally a Cole fan, I honestly like the guy but its obvious he's not briliant and long term we must replace him if we are to improve as a team.

Just checked on the West Ham website and It says that Cole made 42 appearances and scored 15 Goals which for a striker that to me shows how Crap Cole is IMO !

No one is ever going to take Cole off us unless they are very very very desperate for a striker ! If I`am being honest I dont even think Cole would look good in league 1 or 2 tbh he`s that poor .

15 goals in 42 appearances is just slightly better then 1 goal in 3 games and isn't too bad a record for a striker. Being the one striker up top you cant just b judged soley on goals, you also have to hold up the ball and bring others into the game. So if your supporting midfielders also chip in with goals such a sNolan and Vaz te did last year then that all adds to some of the good w**k Cole did for us last year. That said, cant jide the fact that Cole isn't great at finding team mates or holding on to the ball and certainly didn't play a major role in every goal we scored last year. Just saying he cant be judged JUST on his goals last year. We also had an unsettled and new side last year and tried many different strikers last year.

I'm not defending Cole cos I think he's mustard, but I do think he was a good asset for us last year in the COCO POPS league, can be a decent premiership SQUAD player and is certainly better then league 1 or 2

    IMHO

Noble and Cole's contracts up next summer....We are negotiating with Noble but not Cole.......conclusion - Cole will be sold in January says Italian source CalcioMercato! WHO?!?!?

If Rodgers were contemplating this after letting Carroll come to us with an option to have him back in January, I will run naked around Upton Park, waving a banner that says Rodgers is a prick, because that is what he will undoubtedly be.........

I have worked it out now. The bloke who said this is foreign so his English is not great. He has heard that CC is often referred to as Da Tree so he reported that CC is expected to be at an field, where of course he meant; a field.

It's not meant as a joke, it's the only possible reason I could think that Brendan Rodgers didn't want a younger and more effective version of CC, could recall said better option for nothing and suddenly feel he has the footballing philosophy that nobody else has sussed, to bring out the best of CC.

Unless, of course, this story is a hacked up piece of cretinous shit.
