    From The Daily Fail.............

Cole agrees short-term deal at West Ham as Allardyce moves to ease striker crisis

West Ham have agreed a short-term deal to bring Carlton Cole back to Upton Park as the Hammers look to bolster a depleted selection of strikers.
The contract is believed to be three months long and is expected to be officially announced in the next 24 hours.

Cole spent seven years at West Ham during his first spell with the club, scoring 47 league goals in 206 games.

After Maiga`s start to the season this can only be seen as a good thing even if Cole is not the "goal scorer" we need , I 'am guessing it will be 3 months then a extension on that depending on how he does in those 3 months ???

Here`s the difficult decision for BFS to make though ............ Does he drop Maiga and put Cole into the starting line up or does he leave Maiga in the line up and put Cole on the bench in the hope that Maiga knowing that Cole is behind him raring to start will he up his game ?!?!?!

Dont think Sam has much choice really .. Mr Magoo is shocking , It could just be the way Sam plays and sets the team up but either way there really is no room for Magoo in this side

I can't see CC being fit enough for 90 minutes, and much more than an hour of Maiga watching balls sailing over his head should be enough even for BFS, so I reckon we will see Carlton on in the second half. Or not... based on what BFS said at today's press conference he still hasn't signed. And I assume if he's not signed he can't play.

cheesey grin  he ya go Jiggs

Sam Allardyce says that Carlton Cole's return to West Ham should be completed in the next few days.

Allardyce, speaking about the imminent return of his former striker in this morning's pre-match press conference revealed that he expects Cole to put pen to paper within "days now".

"The contract is done by the Chairmen and his agent, but at the moment we're just concentrating on the game against Hull City on Saturday," Big Sam told the assembled press pack. "We'll play a couple of behind-closed-doors games just to let him get some match practice and then we'll take it from there.

"We've had Carlton training with us for a while now and as soon as he's fit enough to play there will be an offer of a short term contract on the table, there's no doubt about that. That's why he's here with us and that's why we're trying to improve his fitness having missed pre-season.

"As soon as he's ok and suitable terms and conditions have been agreed, which is nothing do with me, then he'll join us for however long the contract is negotiated for.

"This club has kept him fit for a long time during his career. Carlton has certain training programmes that were built to suit him and keep him available for a selection on a Saturday afternoon. It's always worked very well during the time I've been here."

The first of those behind-closed-doors friendlies takes place later today, when West Ham's Under 21s faces their counterparts from Ipswich Town. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Rush Green this evening, but has been rescheduled.

Good Grief!  This is most definitely a big 'airy bollix moment in the history of West Ham United.  One step forward and two steps back, straw clutching and scraping the barrel. Carlton Cole Sad0004

Carlton Cole is to prove his fitness in a closed door match against Charlton next Thursday. If he proves his fitness a contract has already been written up for him to sign.

According to The Sun Carlton Cole will sign a 3 month contract this weekend after proving his fitness during the loss to Charlton in a friendly this week just gone , So we could have Cole available for the City game ... what the chances he comes on a scores the winner Wink
