Anyway, the administrators are a very large internationally well-known firm of accountants. Since the bust they have sent me regular letters with full details of the company's financial situation and the winding-up process, pages and pages of photocopied waffle, of no interest since I have kissed my money goodbye long ago. And now, the crowning glory, as a result of their diligent efforts on my behalf they have sent me a cheque for £1.99 in final settlement. What a stupid waste of time and effort, I thought...until I looked at their scale of charges. Their lowest hourly charge rate, which will be for the work-experience kid that copied my letters, put 'em in the envelopes and posted them is £130 per hour! And I wonder how much their director charged, at £395 per hour, for signing my piddly little cheque - more than £1.99, I'm fuppin' sure!
Not all vultures have feathers, my friends, some have smart suits, big shiny offices, and lots and lots of money.
