    From the offish:

West Ham United can confirm that manager Sam Allardyce will lead the Club into the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season after constructive talks with the Club's Board.
The Board and Allardyce have held lengthy and detailed discussions on the Club's direction, values and philosophy and a positive way forward for next season has been agreed.
After listening to feedback from supporters, the Board have insisted on improvements to the set-up of the playing and backroom staff to ensure the team provides more entertainment next season.
The manager has agreed to recruit a new attacking coach to complement the existing coaching set-up as well as an overhaul of the Club's scouting and recruitment operation that will see the Board have a greater involvement in the players who are signed, as the Board will once again be investing considerable funds into the Club this summer. The Club have made clear that they want to see progression on the pitch and at least a top-ten finish as a result.
West Ham United Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold said: "We have a very clear vision of how we want West Ham United to operate under our joint ownership. Although not everybody understands the West Ham Way, we do and we respect it as we have been supporters all our lives. We believe this is about a philosophy that is not just about the style of play, but the whole ethos that surrounds the Club.
"Sam was asked to give us a detailed presentation on his vision for next season and during this he assured us that he can deliver that ethos to West Ham United and we have agreed to support him with the resources that he needs. We have mapped out a way forward with him that will ensure our much-deserving fans have more to cheer about next season.
"We should also stress, though, that while improvements do need to be made, Sam deserves credit for the job he has done thus far after securing promotion in his first year and two respectable Premier League finishes in the two years thereafter. We have also seen the likes of Mark Noble, James Tomkins and Winston Reid all make huge progress under his management, which in turn contributed to our impressive record of 14 clean sheets last season.
"The truly historic opportunity of a move to the Olympic Stadium in 2016 forms a major part of our five-year strategy to take this Club forward and, while we have a duty to make sure we stay in the Premier League, we also want to make sure the performances on the pitch will befit a team playing in such a world-renowned stadium.
"We are absolutely committed to taking West Ham United to new heights and we want to see the Club continue on an upward trajectory next season. The 2014/15 campaign is crucial to our future and we are confident that Sam has the passion, experience and determination to make sure it is a success."
West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce said: "I look forward to taking the Club forward and improving the squad for next season to try and achieve the plans we have set out in our very productive meeting last week."

Completely devasted, feel sick to my stomach ,this is another black day for our West Ham, he only stayed because the managers they approached turned SuGo and The West. Ham Job down, Fat Sham only knows one way, we've all seen it, No one of any kind of quality is going to sign for us and we have another season of the same dire durge to come and another relegation scrap stagnating under Fat Sham Rolladice and his hit and hope hoofball.
    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh !!!!
Oh and to top it all off the last season at The Boleyn will see us managed by a conceited Brummy twat who only cares about himself and doesn't give a flying feck about our Club, it's History or us fans
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!

Will I go into every game supporting us, singing the old songs of the Claret And Blue Army of course I will !!!!

Calm down dear, it's only football - think of your blood pressure.
I am completely unsurprised by this, I never believed that the Daves wanted BFS out yet, but they wanted to give the support something more to look forward to than a repeat of this season. I think the important part of the statement is about the board having more involvement in signings - in other words BFS and Mark Curtis are not going to be allowed to do  whatever they like that pays best for them - this is a yellow card from the owners and no mistake. I have wondered in the past why BFS has been sacked from jobs where in results terms he was doing all that was asked of him - I suspect that with an ego the size of his, once he is established in a club he really thinks he is running the whole show and becomes insufferable to work with. He has now had a reminder of who is really in charge.
The "attacking coach" idea is really cunning - if it works and the football improves, all well and good, if it doesn't the bloke gets the elbow early in the new year and BFS is left to keep us up in his own inimitable fashion. And staying up remains the only thing that REALLY matters to the owners - they are businessmen first , and fans second.

This is the most important season in our history...

we do actually move into the OS at the beginning of 2015/16 don't we? That's what I thought but I see a lot of posts around the web that make me unsure...

But if this impending season is our last at the Boleyn (and gawd help me I need to get back over to Blighty to attend a match there one last time) then this is the one we can't afford to fupp up.

We have to go to the OS in the Premiership.

If we could somehow win a cup or get to a final against top four opposition and have European footie coming up then that would be the ultimately brilliant position to move into a big stadium from.

    Will we do it?

Fucked if I know... this is west ham.

We've had (roughly) the same points for the past two years and dipped from 10th to 13th...

the gap to jump into the top ten really is not that far away... two or three victories depending on other results, but given how shite our season really was, is two or three victories really that far away?

the big difference is the jump into the top seven or so... that's a good ten to twenty points away from where we currently are and that's a big ask.

that's why I think the cups are our best opportunity (premiership survival notwithstanding) to be the launch pad for the move to the OS.

Look at Hull... bunch of boring northerners...

    BUT...

If we could get in at 9th or 8th in the table and have even Europa League footie then that plus the prospect of playing in front of 50,000 people might very well give us the sorely missing cache to lure in some better playing prospects to help give the club a decent playing staff - something we've been lacking for a decade or more.

Plus... this is the last year of Sam's contract, so even if he gets us what we want/need, we can bring in a new manager for the OS and all will be well... unless Sam manages the improvement even he knows we need.

I don't think they ever approached anyone seriously, they were just yanking his chain and trying to pacify the support.

As I eluded to recently, G&S like any decent, fair-minded employers, met with Allardyce and told him in no uncertain terms that a 13th place finish along with the style of play was unacceptable. They also paid great heed to the fan's feelings particularly about the type of football that is expected at West Ham. They then gave him 10 days to a) come up with (as they put it) a detailed plan of how things were going to improve going forward or b) offer his resignation

The owners also made it clear that he was to employ an attacking coach, recruit younger more exciting players and - very importantly - that THEY were going to be involved in the choosing of players coming into the club going forward. They also expect a top 10 finish

Sam must have convinced them with his blueprint going forward and - despite his massive ego - must have agreed to G&S's demands too

Only time will tell whether it was the right decision to keep him and indeed if he can deliver what G&S want in the manner that they want it

Never thought they would get rid of him.
    Cost them too much money.
Now remains to be seen what happens with transfers over the summer.
If it's like last year then we are doomed.
