So West Ham TV has a big interview with Sully...

according to him we're moments away from signing a great forward and a 6' 4" midfielder...

no clues as to who... whom?

on the subject of more rumors about our future... there's a newspaper story that Sam had contacted Teddy Sheringham about coming onboard as our Director of Attacking Football...

Not saying there's any credence to it or whether he'll even take the job...

But it wouldn't be the worst signing we've made recently.

I bet Sullivan is praying for the World Cup to start so he doesn't have to keep manufacturing rumours to keep the support interested. Every year when the transfer window comes around I swear that I'm going to stop looking at the back pages, websites and forums until a week before the new season starts, and spare myself all the crap and bullshit. I never do though...

not many good 6ft 4 midfielders out there...thats really the height of a centre back or forward...in midfield, with a few exceptions, they just tend to be gangly and cumbersome at that height in midfield. Veira and yay a the only real exceptions i can think of?

Papa Bouba Diop did a great job for us in our promotion year. We never replaced him. We are small, slow and weak in central midfield. Hopefully this 6ft 4in mysery midfielder is the answer

thats true dude. for that very reason, i was a big fan of Foe. as i stated, i couldn't think of many big midfielders, but the idea of having a stacked beast in the midfield is a cool one. Bet he's african (am i allowed to say this?)

Cheikhou Kouyaté (born 21 December 1989) is a Senegalese footballer who plays as a centre back for West Ham United in the [[Barclays Premier League].

    Career[edit]
Kouyaté began his footballing career in 1996 in his hometown with ASC Yego Dakar and was scouted by FC Brussels in September 2006. Brussels then signed the player in January the following year.[1]

Then the 19-year-old left FC Brussels as his former employers did not pay him three months of wage, he subsequently moved to Belgian rivals R.S.C. Anderlecht on a four-year deal for a free transfer.[2]

    from wikipedia

also heavily linked to the gooners

interestingly everything i read calls him a CB. maybe he's just versatile

I thought that Alou Diarra would have been the replacement for Diop but it never worked out. He played every game for France as a holding midfield player in the WC2010 but never looked half the player for us did he?

don't think he was ever given a run of games to get settled in the team. sadly.

Doesn't say how tall he is...

West Ham have agreed terms with Argentine striker Mauro Zarate, Sky sources understand.
Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that the Hammers were in talks with the 27-year-old former Birmingham front-man.
Now West Ham have won the race for his signature, with the player expected in England in the next 48 hours.
Sky Sports understand that Zarate has agreed a three-year deal to move to Upton Park.
Zarate returned to Velez Sarsfield from Lazio last year and has just finished the Argentine season as top-scorer.
A source told Sky Sports: "Mauro is very excited about a move to England, he enjoyed his spell last time with Birmingham and is ready to play in the Premier League again."

that's not a bad ratio of goals to games... of course, that presupposes he gets to a: play b: plays somewhere he can score goals
