    Sakho rushed to hospital

Posted by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Dafra Sakho was rushed to hospital after his  tangle with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The striker was left holding his shoulder and clearly in a lot of pain, leaving manager Sam Allardyce very worried about the extent of the injury.
That won’t be known until the results of the scan are produced but ClaretandHugh was told tonight that the player is “very sore at the moment.”
We have learned the problem occurred when Hart kicked him on his collarbone and shoulder, leaving an anxious , Allardyce, coaching staff medical staff fearing a serious problem.
We were told: “We hope nothing is broken, but he was taken to hospital right after the game.”

Though he would be missed with the form he is on at the moment at least this season we have cover for him while he is out SHOULD the worst happen and is he injured and has to miss some game`s !

Maybe a chance if Sakho is injured for Big Sam to play a Valencia n Zarate partnership upfront which could be just as dangerous as Sakho - Valencia

Fingers crossed however that Sakho is not injured and will be able to play against Stoke Saturday Diafra Sakho shoulder injury worry 1803945174 Bow

This is such a shame for him and the club.  I have fingers and everything crossed and have been touching wood all over the place.  The best we can hope for is that there is nothing broken.  Diafra Sakho shoulder injury worry 780148547

I forgot all about Zarate. He had a couple of good games before the latest run and settled team.

Big shame if Sakho is out, can't beat the confidence scoring goals gives, to the team also. Let's hope it's not as bad as it would seem.

    Zarate injury blow

Posted by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Hammers fans calling for Mauro Zarate to replace Diafra Sakho in Saturday’s away game in Stoke could be in for disappointment!
Zarate has taken a mystery knock and might be back until after the next International break which is the Everton match.
This leaves the option of starting Carlton Cole along side Enner Valencia although some fans are calling for Elliot Lee to given his chance in the new exciting setup.
Andy Carroll is expected to be ready by the following week for the home tie against Aston Villa but may be on the bench.

I hear news that Sakho isn,t too bad and may start against Stoke after all! ??
this would be great, and I'm sure listening to the bloke, he wants to give everthing for the team. What a player, and an inspiration to the boys.
Just what we have needed for ages eh?

Starting Elliot Lee would be a good thing at the moment , As he confident as he scoring goals in the Development squad etc and the whole team is playing with a lot off confidence and Lee is a similar type of player to Sakho in that he is small , quick and can score goals and playing alongside some one like Valencia may do Lee the world of good !
But we all know that if Sakho is out and that Zarate is also injured that the replacement in the starting line up will be Carlton Cole who I guess has also said he feels he does better playing alongside some one so maybe partnering him up with Valencia we might see a different Cole !

At least when you look at the stats for our Strikers this season so far apart from Carroll they have all scored this season which makes a nice change !

According to Sam yesterday, Sakho is 50/50 & will be assessed today. Zarate has apparently got over his groin injury and will be available for selection.

Stoke is not the team to blood Lee against. They are a bunch of lumbering old men who's pace has gone so they try and stop you the only way they know how. Violently. The likes of Walters, Huth, Adam & Shawcross are not the players to throw the yoof in against.

Sad to say League two is the level that our U21 are at , as are most of the English U21 players through the premier league

We were lucky with the golden age of our Academy , those days are no longer with us

Campo, I thought with Lee being in and around our 1st team, that League1 minimum would have been good. If he gets sat on the pine at Southend, I'd be really pssd orf.!

I never get excited about youngsters like some people do on here -that's not meant as a criticism by the way-

I just assume that the players coming up aren't good enough/ won't be given the chance. Few years ago having watched them live I was mildly excited about zavon hines and the other one whose name now escapes me but they ended up being flogged to burnley (?).

Even when we sign promising youngsters such as Sam baldock or that foreign chap for 9 million it goes Pete tong.

Noble is just about our only successful youngster in a decade.

Elliot Lee ruled out for at least 2 months with a hamstring injury picked up in training. Can't help thinking that the training staff at Southend would not have been as professional as ours and may have contributed to this soft tissue injury. Only my thoughts. I have nothing to substantiate them

I still believe we should not of got rid of Jack Collison as I thought and still do believe he was a good player for us when played , was just a shame about his bad knee ! Another player who could of been a really good player for us had he been given more of a chance by Big Sam is Junior Stanislas - He was looking like being a very good player for us under the guidance of Gianfranco Zola but was never given a proper chance to impress Big Sam when he took over !

with the likes of Hines, Stanislas , Sears , if they were any good they would not be playing league 1 and 2
unfortunate for jack that his knee is made of glass otherwise I think he would still be with us this season.
who was the last player from the academy we released that went on to become a premiership player with another club?

Probably Leon Britton, via lower leagues now with Swansea.

Jack joins a long list of those just not good enough. Simple fact, the romance of the taloved youngsterp coming through is just that. If they're good enough they get played - Cottee, Carrick, Rio, Fat Frank etc. Danny Williamson springs to mind too, not sure how his demise came about but seemed to be doing so well when he first broke through.

Junior Stanislas is playing in the championship at the moment for a team that if they carry on playing the way they are could be in the Premier league next season and that club is Bournemouth !

I completely forgot about Freddie Sears - I never really rated him that much ,I always rated Zavon Hines as being the better player out of the two of them

It does make me wonder if Elliot Lee will end up being released at the end of his contract and end up playing in a lower league purely because Big Sam wont give him a chance
