interesting article in the Telegraph with a lot of info in it...

    the "interesting" bits are...

Alex Song travelled to Cameroon to meet with representatives of the country’s football federation to thrash out his international future.
An Africa Cup of Nations about-turn will be a big blow to West Ham, whose Champions League qualification hopes have already been hit by two defeats and a draw over Christmas and New Year.

Diafra Sakho is having his back injury assessed before it is decided whether or not the striker will travel.
“He is seeing a specialist in London at the moment,” said West Ham manager Sam Allardyce. “He has had all the appropriate scans, but we need to sit down and assess the extent of the injury - has it got any worse since the last time? Is it the same [problem]?
“With a back, it is a delicate scenario, so until we get the full diagnosis from the specialist today, we won't know which will be the way forward.”

“There is no future for Winston Reid at West Ham United at the moment because his contract finishes on June 30,” said Allardyce. “He hasn't said he is going to sign and he hasn't said he isn't, but you would err on the side that he isn't by the feel and the look of it at this moment in time, by the knowhow in the football world I have been talking to - other managers and so forth about the situation.

I never saw us as challenging for a champions league place- top half minimum and top 6 at best with 8th more Likey. 4th was never, ever sustainable to me. If that's pessimistic then so be it, least I'm not sitting here feeling disappointed

Song going to African cup of nations is a bit of an unexpected kick to the nuts. I'd have loved to have seen Song tell the manager to do one, but was never going to happen.

Let's hope this new CB we have signed can develop quickly and ease himself into Reid's spot in the team.

Well he is young Alfie, and seems intelligent enough to learn quickly. I like his attitude in that first interview.
