Just checked out the fixture list and... fupp me... we really might rue those dropped points in the past few games...

In case you don't know, here's how it shakes out:

Liverpool v West Ham Sat 31 Jan
West Ham v Man Utd Sun 8 Feb
Southampton v West Ham Wed 11 Feb
Tottenham v West Ham Sun 22 Feb
West Ham v Crystal Palace Sat 28 Feb
West Ham v Chelsea Tue 3 Mar
Arsenal v West Ham Sat 14 Mar

I mean... Palace? That's the only 'easy' three pointer and under Pardew's leadership, even that ain't gonna be a foregone conclusion as they fight for Premiership survival...

the flipped is that no matter how badly these games might go, we then have two months of 'reasonably' simple games to follow... although we all know the end of the season is a crap shoot with teams scrapping for survival...

So... with 21 points up for grabs in the next 7 games... how many do we think we'll get?

Yeah it is a tough run of games but at the end of the season everybody will have played everyone twice and we will end up where we deserve to end up

    Philosophical I know ! ;-)

    True.

It's just tricky when the games come in clumps of 'hard' and 'easy' - and yes, I know we can beat anyone on our day... and conversely get beaten by anyone on any particular day as well.

My main worry is that with this run of 7 very difficult games, is there a risk of damaging confidence if results don'y go our way, which then might have a detrimental effect on things when we come to the run-in and have to play a bunch of teams that are really scrapping and playing for their premiership survival...

Ultimately... yes, we play everyone twice and over the season you pretty much get what you deserve...

I just liked being 4th and above teams like Arsenal and Spuds...

I don't think any of us expected to have as many points as we have now so whatever we pick up from those games is a bonus, if they take us over 40 points then win win Very Happy

Obviously I will still be picking apart and moaning about every point not picked up after posting that above Very Happy

To be honest when I look at them fixtures , I think on our day we could beat all of them apart from Chelsea , Lets be honest , We played Southampton and they just got lucky that we were having a shit day that day , United we had that goal right near the end wrongly disallowed , Liverpool we beat and if we play like we did that day against in two weeks time I think we can get some more points of them, Palace we beat and again I think we will beat them again as I think we have just a bit more quality then them, Spurs again they just got a very fluky lucky goal right at the end in a game which we could easily of beaten them and Tbh I think we will do them a shite hart lane and Arsenal we were again robbed of a perfectly good goal when it was 0-0 so we have proved in all the first set of games against those teams we can beat them on our day

Most hardened Hammers will look at that fixture list and think "Oh shit!", but that's just the ingrained pessimistic reaction, we can't stop ourselves. But I think we truly are quite a lot better than we have been for a long time, and we really do stand a very good chance against anybody at present IMO.
It's reaching the point where other people are seeing us come up on the fixture list and doing some serious worrying. Good. Let's all enjoy it while it lasts... scarf
