no one likes players acting like spoilt brats... so on the face of it... fining a club for 'failing to control' them during a period of bad behavior...

so it's hardly surprising that the club has been fined 30 grand for the protests during the Soton game when Adrian was sent off.

Now the thing that got me thinking was this...

Adrian's red card (which I will admit... I thought was bang to rights he totally should have been sent off) was actually (and i'll be honest again, i can't understand why) rescinded...

Which makes my monkey brain think... if the red card was rescinded then it must have been given incorrectly at the time... so if the players were protesting the giving of the red card (presumably because they thought it was being given incorrectly... then by the red card being reversed... makes them right!!!!

So how can they (or the club) be fined for their protests when the FA has actually backed their protests by reversing the red card...

Couldn't agree more, the logic is unassailable.

I can only think this is due to the fact a few years ago the FA introduced the concept of ONLY the captain approaching the ref and the other players having to stay away. This stopped that awful man u players en mass swamping the ref and bitching till they got what they wanted. Must be bloody hard for a ref to have 11 angry conversations at once. Its actually a law I agree with.

    Just a thought

I suppose whilst the game is in progress, the referee's decision is deemed correct and nobody has the right to contest it at that time.    confu

Then again, the FA seem to make some things up as they go along .......

My mum has a great saying (I think she stole it from Bananarama) "It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it". The rules are there and laid out to stop situations arising. The arguement that because the decision was wrong, the subsequent behaviour was justified under the laws of the game (however understandable) us misguided. They are related by circumstance only.

A comparison is you found in contempt of court during a trial you are found not guilty for; the contempt issue still stands.

I still haven't seen the incident and behaviour. The game couldn't be replayed for a wrong decision (those days would cause hassle beyond comprehension) but the FA are committed (when it suits) to underlining certain behaviour levels to try and stop rot spreading into a lower level of the game-especially impressionable youth. The figure is pawltry and would barely cover a round at Soho Square for a committee meeting (or Benni McCarthy's pizza bill) but has to be seen as action taken.
