I think it will be difficult to get Hernandez seeing as Man Utd have let RVP & Falcao leave. They only have Rooney and a kid on their books

We have more chance of getting Charlie Austin or the Senagalese striker from Fenerbache (where RVP has gone for first team football)

well that's one way to guarantee we don't get into Europe thru the Fair Play league deny more...

why do we need or want a minge like that at our club... does no one there read the papers?

fupping hell, can't even enjoy a day of feeling good about the club having beaten Arsenal before they throw this shit at me...

I could just about understand us signing Barton a free if we WERE still in Europe as yea we could of done we more players but we are not so I just don't understand why we want him !?!? If we are in the market for a midfielder then I thought it would of made sense to try and get Song ( Yea he is injured for a while but while he is getting fit he would be ideal to have to mentor Oxford in that Midfield role ) as Song is only 27 so still got a lot of years left in him

He has also just had an operation and will be out for 3 months. I suspect that we do not want to pay money for him now until he is fit again. Barton is probably going to be cover until we try to sign Song in January

Seems a wee bit of a risk too me, we know song has a lot of quality to him, I'd rather we just signed him up now and took a three month wage hit. At 27 he could easily have 6-7 good years in him.

    Carlton Cole seen at UP.

    Concession stand job apparently.

Seriously, just was thinking about him, wiki'd his stats (diabolical as we know!) but surprised one of the new boys (Watford-local or Leicester - Ranieri who rated him so highly at Chelsea) have not  been linked  or even a Chumps team.

Unbelievable we (allegedly) were close to getting £20m for him a few years ago.

After Morgan Amalfitano's well reported row with Slaven looks like he is on his way out, apparently St Etianne? are interested. Always thought he was used to little last season, but his discipline record is not good so maybe we can get some dosh for him.

Lucky to get £1m for him with his age and now publicly not wanted.

Always looked decent when he played, would have slipped down the order a bit so no biggie either way.

I think it is well documented that BFS did not want to sign Amalfitano on a permanent basis but was over ruled by G&S who signed him anyway. Looks like BFS knew something they didn't eh?

Yep, no one's bigger than the club.

But he'll need replacing, we still need another striker and Carlton Cole is not the answer .................. 17 days and counting.

Mumbai has us getting Song subject to him passing a medical. Interview with one of our chairpersons says he would t pass a medical now but it's a 'technical' thing and a gamble, we are shit at gambles!!!!

I have no idea what I'm talking about (but when has that ever stopped me) how this works in practice but it would seem to me like the medical staff or approved medical advisor makes an evaluation of a player's medical condition and fitness (taking into account injuries past & present, recovery, lasting effects or procedures, etc) and then passes that evaluation onto the club.

The club then give that medical assessment to the club's insurance company who then give their opinion on the cost of premiums to insure that player as a member of the west ham playing squad - given the likelihood of injuries, recovery time, potential cost of treatment, etc.

The club then decides whether they feel like paying the increased premium for the insurance coverage.

Then the medical staff also probably do an evaluation as to whether the player has any inherent weaknesses or previous injuries that might make an injury likely in the future - short term or long term...

it's all about risk assessment rather than a straight pass/fail scenario...

If we have a deal agreed with barca and Song then we should get it wrapped as soon as possible before someone comes in for him .. yea its a risk but it a risk worth taking as players like him don't come cheap that often and he will improve massively

Alex Song: West Ham agree deal to sign Barcelona midfielder
15 minutes ago From the sectionFootball

Alex Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2012
West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, subject to a medical.

The 27-year-old Cameroon international made 31 appearances for the Hammers during a loan spell last season.

Song, who played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2012, will sign a three-year contract if he can prove his fitness.

"We just hope the medical shows he's in a sufficient state for us to gamble," West Ham co-owner David Sullivan told the Knees Up Mother Brown Podcast.

"He couldn't physically pass a medical tomorrow, but if the medics say it's just a technical thing and he's only a couple of weeks away you'd take that gamble and hope they're right."

Sullivan said signing Song on a three-year deal would be a "huge commitment", adding: "He's a big earner."
