Anyone got any idea what our best starting 11 is/are?

Post  westhamonkey on Sun 26 Jul 2015, 12:56 am

I know it's only pre-season and there's a whopping great two weeks before we take on the mighty Arsenal...

but looking at the games we've played - including today's friendly against Charlton - I can't see any consistency in line-up, selection or anything other than us frequently going for a formation during a game that features a lone striker getting the same lack of service as used to happen under BFSA.

    So... my question is...

    what's our starting 11?

there wasn't really even any consistency between the Malta game and today... so what's the deal?

I'm all about giving youngsters and fringe players the chance to shine... but at what point do you decide on your best team? 5 minutes before kick-off against Arsenal?

Yes, we're playing a lot of games... I get that part

But there's not even two line-ups... it seems like a completely different set-up for each game...

So when do you think he'll start to settle things down and actually try to start playing something approximating our first team?

I think this week mate, you will see what is close to the best side. You wan't my opinion?
Adrian Cresswell Reid Ogbonna Jenkinson Kouyate Poyet Cullen Payet Valencia Sakho
Subs Randolph Collins Burke Oxford Samuelson Noble Zarate
    That should do it.

    Adrian
    Jenkinson Reid Ogbonna Cresswell
            Obiang Kouyate
                  Payet
     Amalfitano     Valencia
                  Sakho

Subs: Any sensible combination of 7 from Randolph, Noble, Carroll, Zarate, Tomkins, O'Brien (coz he can play anywhere !), Poyet, Hendrie, Collins, Lanzini, Samuelsen and Lee

PS Obviously Jenkinson can't play against The Arse so JOB would have to slot in for this one

To be honest I think we will start to see the team Bilic wants in next coming weeks , At the end of the day its better he tries out every body now rather then closer or even through the season and at least with the Europa league everyone is getting competitive football rather then just your normal " friendly getting your fitness up " pre-season games

My personal starting 11 for the Arsenal providing we don't have any injuries between now and then would be :
    Adrian
    O`Brien
    Ogbonna
    Reid (c)
    Cresswell
    Kouyate
    Payet
    Amalfitano
    Obiang
    Valencia
    Sakho
    SUBS:Randolph - Tomkins - Noble - Zarate - Lanzini - Samuelsen - Poyet

Haven't got a Scooby but would expect to see something like...

    Adrian

    Jenkinson Reid Ogbonna Cresswell

    Obiang Noble Kouyate

    Valencia Sakho Payet

That's if he insists on playing Noble - which is likely

    But will he play Noble?

I have a feeling he will - but is he playing him out of sentiment or pressure or delusion?

Cos is Noble really all that when so many of us aren't convinced any longer.

Seems everyone is pretty set on the back four - but I got a feeling he'll be playing Tomkins and/or Ginge (not that I have any issues with either) but like with Noble... I wonder the justification for the selection.

If you look at the squad [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - the striker section does look a little thin.

Still, as always, interesting times at West Ham

I think Noble will be on the bench. Dont know much about Obiang, we haven't seen him really yet. I like the look of young Samuelson, and Poyet wouldn't let us down either. We do have some options in midfield and at the back- Good!

I think Tony's is the most Likely although I can see amalfitano's place going to payet and payets going to noble or, eventually, song

Hmmm.... Jarvis and Nolan both played for an hour... what do we make of that?

Seems like Nolan's had a showing in every 'A' team line up so far...

That was my thinking dude, as long as he doesn't do it in partnership with Nolan we'll be a little bit happier.

Personally id like to see Poyet given more of a chance.

Who will partner Ogbonna on Thursday, gold has tweeted that they won't risk Reid and Tompkins is banned? Ginge. Burke or Henry? I'd give the young lad another chance, as from what's been said so far Ginge hasn't be looking to solid.

I think he will be forced to go with the experience of Collins but having said that Doneil Henry looked good last night. He is a beast. Good on the ball too

Possibly but all I see in Poyet is a younger version of Noble

    Our best starting XI

    Parkes

Bonds Martin Moore (capt) Lampard (Snr)

    Peters Brooking Devonshire

    Cottee Hurst Di Canio

I think they may be a bit slow but the way we are playing I think they could still give the current lot a game!

From the starting line up that I saw today I'm assuming Oxford played in front of the centre backs again today.

Any thoughts on the thinking behind this ?

Some bloke on the wireless in the week reckoned he is playing there because Bilic wants him to get on the ball but he has the luxury of players behind him should he give it away......which I have seen him do a few times.

I read somewhere that Bilic is very keen on Reece Oxford so looks like we may well see a lot of him this season in the league which is nice and good to hear and see
