Not sure both them deals will cover the expense personally, although we did flog Jarvis for £2.5 million too.

I'm not really expecting anyone signed.

I still believe that Zarate is a good squad player for us, he did OK when we were down to 'the bare bones' over the last few weeks, will not be a starter when other players are fit, but we need to keep good quality players in reserve. Poyet is still young, but the manager obviously doesn't fancy him, and Charlton are almost as fucked up as Blackpool and Bolton at the moment, they need him we obviously don't.

Lot of rumours abound that we would sell/have valued Andy Carroll at roughly the amount we paid for him. Sunderland and Newcastle the reported interested clubs

We would be arsehole lucky to get anything near what we paid forAC in this window, he is just back from nigh on two seasons of injury. I would question their sanity and take the money. That's not to say I don't rate him but he needs a system that Bilic is not naturally going to play-at the moment there's little choice. So if somebody offered £12m ish for Carroll I would take it so Bilic could buy a more mobile striker to play as Sakho's backup or competitor.

When AC is playing we have to change a style and several players roles change. We need seamless replacements/backups/rotations. AC does give a great alternative but that's a bit-part role so freeing up £££'s in wages and a transfer fee tips the balance for me.

I can't see anyone risking it for him though, not even Sam or the Geordie Dutchman.

I would sooner keep Zarate and unload The Jellyfish if it was just a question of numbers, but Zarate must be on a much higher salary so is a bigger saving. Whatever we pay Jellyfish, it's too much, even if he is the only one that can talk to Bilic.

I had to laugh listening to the radio today - someone's trying to suggest we might be going for Sturridge. Yeah, sure - after Ashton and Carroll we are going to try another England CF with a dodgy injury record. They put it to Bilic who said it was just a daft rumour, and maybe there was a rumour we are interested in Messi. Probably more likely.....

The Sturridge one came from those fuckwits at The Brentwood Gazette who linked us with around 8-9 players like Sturridge and Tevez and more a like
for some reason the main press decided that they would jump on the bandwagon with the Sturridge one

Quick scan for the Brentwood links

    Sturridge
    Nemanja Vidic
    Mikel Arteta
Emmanuel Emenike (this one is a true rumour)
    Josip Drmic
    Simone Zaza
    Odion Ighalo
    Carlos Tevez
    Burak Yilmaz
    Loic Remy
    Stevan Jovetic
    Andros Townsend
    Moussa Dembele
    Emmanuel Adebayor
    Andre Ayew
    Mario Balotelli
    Davide Santon
    Charlie Austin
    Andre Gray
    Lisandro Lopez

And those are all from 13th Jan to today, cant be bothered to list the first half of the month

80 goals in 300 odd games. Hardly 20 goals a season potential and plied his trade all over, in the desert at the moment taking PL style oil money wages playing for League 2 equivalent . Hardly filling me with excitement.

This lad appears to be a stop gap for the rest of the season loan only, with Zarate gone and the Jellyfish possibly off too,
Slaven has apparently faced this lad in both Turkey and Russia so I will trust his judgement on this one

Hmmm , last hour or so the Turks of Galatasaray are under the impression we have gone in for Burak Yilmaz and a promptly throwing toys out of the pram

Edit: It also appears that Galatasaray are in it up to their eyeballs with UEFA over financial fair play so may well be shipping a few out
