I and Mrs Campo have been fortunate enough have got places at the Thiepval Memorial, where there will be a ceremony to commemorate the Battle of the Somme Centenary

I will be laying a wreath on behalf of Basingstoke Town FC (not within the main ceremony)
I have spoken to my local RBL member Bill who I have know for a number of years
He suggested and I agree, we will provide those small wooden crosses(as many as we can), think there are also others
    just checked image supplied

    Cheers

Well done campo,  i'm going out there twice next year,  once with the people from Birmingham university's war studies dept. And laterwith the London Scottish regimental association to commemorate the 502 men we lost on1st July 1916 at Gommecourt at the northern end of tbe battlefield.
I went for the 90th commemorations,  and tvere were just to many people on the 1st July. Hopefully your experience o what should be a moving and emotional day are better next year.

That is why it's been restricted next year, we had to enter a ballot to get spaces on the day

    Bumping this

I will be visiting Bill within the next few weeks to organise any of the crosses that will be required
Please let me know if any of you wish a cross to be placed with your own message written or not on it.

    Cheers
