The media has been making a lot of West Hams summer buys this year, not the least because last years was absute pants.
So what have Gold and Sullivan spent this window? Pabaletta? Free, good signing at RB, will be an asset to a fairly poor defence overall.
Hart? Loan, with 50% of his wages paid by citeh if the reports are true. Again IMHO better than what we had, a no brainer to sign him. We nesd to keep Adrian, cos if Hart has a good season and plays well for England his stock will rise and he'll be off like a long dog.
Arnoutivic, £24m, could be a class act or spit his dummy and be apain in the arse. I hope the former as at Stoke he lokked superb, at times!
The little pee, at £16m a steal and a cracking bit of work toget him and ata fantastic price, should score usmore goals on his own tban Carroll over two seasons.
The kid from Swedan, £2.7m, untested at any rateable level, might be a good player but we'll only lend him to Bradford so not going to get any game time soon.
Total spend on five players, of which 4 are first team =£47,7m excluding wages stc.
Sold the Norwegian CB to Hoffenheim £8M,good bit oc business.
Valencia to Mexico about £4m, loss of £7m,but henever cut it with us really.
Randolph to Boro £5m, came on a free, was ok but really only a no2, again good busines
Fletcher, to Boro £6.5m,shame dont think he got the time or chance he deserved, but thats todays football. Got a good price for an unproven striker, but we may rue not giving him time.
Fergoloholi? £4m ish, againcameon a free never st the worl alightbut did he get the time to adjust to the premier league?
So, those five were sold for around £27.5m. Meaning our overall spend this transfer window is just under £20m.
I hardly think that spending £20m is going to take us to thenext level!
Dont get me wrong they have done some great business, and the squad is stronger with its additions, but we are not investing the huge sums being paid by the tv companies in the squad. We need better players in midfield, I'm afraid Mark Noble is not as good as others we already have at the club, but I'm sure he will play. We're stuck with Sakho and Carroll unless we can keep them fit and zell them onin the january window.
We boast of the Academy? But never give the best players there a chance, Burke, Oxford, Cullen, Martinez should be challenging in the first team squad, how many will be given any real chance?
