    Npower Championship

    Venue: Ricoh Arena Date: Saturday, 19 November Kick-off: 1500 GMT Coverage: Watch highlights on The Football League Show; listen on BBC Radio 5 live and BBC local radio;

    TEAM NEWS

James McPake, Richard Wood, Chris Hussey and Martin Cranie could all return for Coventry, while Gael Bigirimana has completed a ban.

But striker Roy O'Donovan (foot) is out and midfielder David Bell faces a fitness test.

West Ham duo Joey O'Brien and Guy Demel are available after recovering from hamstring problem, while Matt Taylor (calf) also hopes to be passed fit.

But Winston Reid (shoulder) and winger Gary O'Neil (ankle) remain sidelined.

    MATCH FACTS
    Head-to-head

West Ham hold a 42-26 lead over Coventry from 92 competitive meetings, but in league games on Coventry turf, they are all-square at 14 wins a piece, with 15 drawn.

    • This is their first league meeting in seven seasons.

    • Coventry have won only two of the last eight home league meetings with the Hammers. During that time, they lost 3-0 in September 2000 when this was a Premier League fixture.

    Coventry City

    • Derby and Nottingham Forest are the only clubs Coventry have beaten in the Championship this season (both at home), and just goal difference is keeping them off the foot of the table.

    • Andy Thorn, who will have been at the helm 250 days when this game is staged, has overseen the Sky Blues' worst start to a league season in 11 years.

    • They are on the longest current winless sequence in the division of five games (two points out of 15), and have the joint weakest attack in the Football League, with 13 goals netted in 16 outings.

    West Ham United

West Ham are unbeaten in four, and have claimed 10 points of the last 12 available.

    • They head the Championship's "away" table, with five wins and 17 points, losing only to Southampton. (Coventry are bottom, with three points.)

    • They need to score once, to total 2,000 away league goals.

Well After the result against Bristol City I reckon today will end in the same result for some reason Sad Tho I hope Iam wrong and knock a few goals past coventry to boost our already brilliant goal difference ready for when we overtake saints in near future Smile

I Cant wait see Demel get given a run out think he could improve our defence even more as he quite a big defender like Faye . I would hate to be BFS right now because I would not know who start with upfront alongside Baldock lol

Iam going ether 0-0, 1-1 or 4-1 West ham WH Flag

    Big Sam after the game

Sam Allardyce had high praise for the "outstanding support" that contributed fully to the Hammers coming from behind to win 2-1 at Coventry City.

The Hammers had around 6,500 fans cheering them on at the Ricoh Arena, but the first half was one of disappointment as Clive Platt put the home side in front. Big Sam changed things around at half-time, bringing on Carlton Cole and he was to restore parity. Frederic Piquionne was the next to be introduced and he forced the winner off his knee to seal a memorable comeback.

"It is a satisfying afternoon," the manager said. "It is a great result to come back having gone a goal down at half-time. It is the first time we have shown this type of character.

"We were disappointed in our performance in the first half but we did something about it. Me by changing the system [from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2] and the players by performing better. They exerted pressure on Coventry which ended up paying off for us."

That makes it four wins and a draw from the last five matches, and the margin of victory could have been greater had Jack Collison not skied an open goal in added time. "I don't know how Jack missed that," the manager added with a smile.

He was quick to praise the contribution of the travelling fans at every turn in his post-match analysis.

"The win gave the outstanding supporters something to cheer. It was even better for us to score both goals at their end. They made a real atmosphere for us today and the lads knew they didn't want to let the fans down or themselves down.

"They have come storming through, shown their quality and demonstrated why we are in the position we are in."

The manager admitted it looked a long way from being a day of celebration after the first 45 minutes when Coventry held the advantage. "I thought Coventry were very good in the first half particularly and the lads didn't really perform as well as we know they can in that period in terms of possession.

"Defensively we were OK but Coventry were dominating the ball most of the time. They scored a very good goal indeed.

"We changed it around at half-time. We changed the system and I think once we put Frederic Piquionne and Carlton Cole on, the game changed in our favour.

"We started to create more and more and I thought it was only a matter of time before scored. In the end we carried on creating chances. It was a satisfying 45 minutes and was because I have such a strong squad - not in numbers but in terms of quality. We had talented players to come on and change the game in our favour. "

While the manager jokily called himself a "master tactician" for introducing Cole, he was serious when acknowledging the form of his No9, having also seen him change the game at Hull City a fortnight ago. "Certainly with these performances he is warranting the starting position again," he admitted.

"It was a really good and happy dressing room. It is another three points towards our target. For only the second time we are where we want to be, 17 points from 34 games is two points a game. That gets you automatic promotion.

"We are right on the brink of our busiest period, no more international breaks and the games will come thick and fast. Having the squad fit again and having this result means that last two-week break came at the right time. More of our injured players are getting fit and that should hopefully stand us in good stead going into a more ferocious fixture list."

I listed on BBC Radio London. It sounded like a carbon copy of the Hull game, another away win and three more points.

Top away support once again, it was the only stand that was full. I’ll be interested to hear what TonyP thought.

It really was a game of two halves. We came out in a negative 4-5-1 formation with Baldock on the left wing. BFS can call it 4-3-3 as much as he wants but Carew was up front on his own and we pumped long balls up to him with no support from midfield

Coventry were playing with a confidence and swagger that did not represent a team at the bottom of the table. They passed it around and we could not get near them. They were not really posing much of a threat, but neither were we !

Then a ball out to our left saw a weak attempt by Collison to tackle their player. The ball merely ricocheted back to him. He then scuffed a cross into our box; one of their players dummied it to Clive Platt. Faye was not tight enough, allowing Platt to turn and score with his left foot. Green had no chance. 1-0 Coventry

    HT 1-0

BFS took the ineffective Carew off at half time and replaced him with Carlton Cole; at the same time reverting to a 4-4-2 formation. From that moment onwards apart from one great save from Green it was mostly us doing the attacking. Cole and Baldock both ran the channels, giving their back four plenty to think about for the first time in the match. Cole in particular was unplayable. At times it is hard to fathom what he is doing, but if he doesn't know then his marker sure as hell doesn't!

After 69 mins a goal kick from Greeno left Cole in an aerial challenge. Cole left his marker on his arse and broke away down the left. As the keeper came out he shot with his left foot. The shot was going wide but a deflection from the defender saw it diverted into the net. 1-1. Relief all round

Papa Bouba Diop was replaced by Freddi Piquionne midway through the second half

The young Coventry side started to look a bit sorry for themselves, whilst the magnificent travelling support spurred us on to get a second goal. Again Coley was involved. Picking the ball up in the inside left channel and spreading it wide to Faubert. His cross was too long for everyone but Piquionne dived full length for it in any case. It paid off. The ball ricocheted off the defender, onto his knee and into the bottom corner. The sort of thing that happens to a side bottom of the league I am afraid. But we didn't care !! 2-1 to the Cockney Boys !

From the second goal until the end of the match we just kept pouring forward and carving them apart. If it were not for some poor final balls - particularly from Faubert and Collison - and a terrible miss from 6 yards from Collison it could have been 4 or 5

10 mins from time Baldock was replaced by O'Brien. He went to right back and Faubert to right midfield

4 minutes of injury time seemed to drag but in the end the final whistle went and 6,300 away fans celebrated a hard-fought win. All the players came to our end to applaud us and you could tell by their fist pumping etc that this victory meant a great deal to all of them

NB - BFS is taking credit for this victory. Yes, he changed personnel and tactics at half time but he got them horribly wrong to start with IMO. We scored two lucky goals. He is taking too much credit for the win as far as I am concerned. The first half was awful. Not sure if it was the same at Hull as I wasn't there. It seems that the introduction of Cole and his impact changed BOTH games. He has to start against Derby with Baldock up front in a 4-4-2

Overall - After so long in going to an away game outside of London, I was seriously questioning my sanity as I watched the ineptitude of the first half. My faith was justified at the final whistle though. I didn't realise how much I have missed our travelling fans. They are SO different to the Johnny-Come-Lately, Boo-boys that have infiltrated Upton Park. They get behind the team, singing the names of individual players. Just how it USED to be at home too. I can see now why we (mostly) play with such freedom away from home and with such nervousness at home. Chalk and cheese support

Anyway I am waffling on now

    Marks out of 10

    Green 7/10 A steadying influence
Faubert 6/10 Poor. Constantly out of position and terrible delivery from wide positions
    Faye/Tomkins 8/10 Solid together
McCartney 6/10 A poor first half but improved
Collison 6/10 Never really got into the game until the last 20 mins. Missed an absolute sitter
Nolan 7/10 Quietly effective. Seemed happy to hold the midfield together
Noble 7/10 Probably our best midfield player but was not outstanding by any means
Baldock 6/10 Never got into the game at all. Mind you playing wide left didn't allow him too
Papa Bouba Diop 5/10 For a bloke that big he gets out jumped and out muscled too easily
Carew 5/10 Isolated but nevertheless did not hold the ball up well at all

Subs - Cole 8/10 Terrorised the Coventry back four when he came on. Made all the difference
Piquionne 7/10 Played in an unfamiliar midfield position but was good technically and used the ball well
O'Brien 6/10 Only on for about 10 mins

Thanks for the report darlin' - it sounds like it was the same as against Hull.

This 4-3-3 nonsense really has to end, we all know its 4-5-1 whatever BFS says and it clearly is not working. We don’t look like drawing a game let alone winning it until he changes it for a proper 4-4-2. Cole and Bladock up front together and NOT Baldock out on the right for our next game is imo a must.

I`am sure BFS will start with 442 and cole and baldock upfront we are much more of a threat when we have two strikers upfront , and with mattie back in the team and faubert/collison on the right we have our ideal team back WH Flag

So against derby i would start with :
    Green
    McCartney,Tomkins,Faye,O`Brien
    Taylor,Nolan,Noble,Faubert/Collison
    Cole,Baldock

SUBS TO DO DURING GAME :
Carew on for Cole for the last 30mins or so.
Demel on for O`Brien for the last 10mins or so to give him a run out.
Collison/Faubert on for each other ( which ever one starts comes off for the other after 70mins.
