What Dave said.
Personally, I'd keep him as a right back, played well there.

Re: James Tomkins
Can`t see him going Tbh as we only have Byram at the club so Tomkins would ideal cover to have plus he can play CB as well and I cant see him wanting to go as well as he said last year that he is happy to sit on the bench if the team are doing well etc and that he is well prepared to wait for his chance etc so cant see him going unless Bilic pushes him like he did with Amalfitano etc

Rumours that Bilic wants Antonio to be his right back.
I'd take the money.

Re: James Tomkins
If he goes it's cos he wants to I hope. Strange move if not given we are in Europa to meet home/club grown player quotas. Only him and Noble count as club produced for registration purposes (the Reece's don't have be registered as under 21)
The money, if true, is decent and could help towards strengthening but the downside is the home grown and of course the affection we have for our Academy boys.
I could see it doing him good too, not just having reegular game time but als o as a chanve of scene. Sometimes players just need that. If he goes, it'll be a great shame but maybe it will see Oxford given more of a chance (but at CB???) Or Burke.
No Sugar Hut in Crystal Palace though Jim!

Re: James Tomkins
I know most fans will be sad he has gone as he has come through our academy but I can't say that I ever felt comfortable with him in our defence. It was too much money to turn down for a back up defender IMO.

Agreed. Especially when we have back-up to Reid & Ogbonna with Ginge, Burke & Oxford; not forgetting that Kouyate and the Norwegian can also play there

I feel like a mother, watching their child leave the nest
But, if it has to be, thank you James for your years of commitment to the club, with all best wishes for your future career and happiness.
I sincerely hope the rumours that Bilic wants Antonio to be his right back are just rumours. Unacceptable in my eyes and also I believe Antonio's. Square peg syndrome and unsettling a player is not something the club should have to do anymore.

Re: James Tomkins
Tomkins had fallen way down the pecking order at West Ham, a move was good for him and at £10m very good for the club.
I agree with The Jiggly one, Antonio is not a RB and it would be a waste to use him that way.

Re: James Tomkins
Such a shame to see Tomkins leave us , I really think we should of kept him as he was good cover for Centre back and also Right back. It`s fair to say that This is Palace`s gain and our Lose Imo !
So we now only have 3 senior Centre backs in Collins , Reid and Ogbonna with two admittedly very good youngsters in Oxford and Burke
