    From the Offish:-

West Ham United can confirm that the Club and Stephen Henderson have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the goalkeeper's contract and registration with immediate effect.

Henderson joined the Hammers from Portsmouth, initially on loan, in March 2012, but was restricted to two League Cup appearances during his time at the Club and his release means he is now free to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

West Ham United would like to thank Stephen for his efforts at the Club and wish him well for his future career.

Now, I never really got this fella. We bought him, used him twice & decided he was shit but kept him on until now. WTF was that all about then.

best way to think of answering that was he was a back up keeper. if you back up keeper is too good then he's never going to be happy sitting on the bench. It has to be a majors nightmare, you really need a settled GK to play every game, but need someone of a decent standard to be sitting on the bench for every game not playing. I guess he fit that description nicely.

I'm not sure i know it was agreed he was shit either. Might well be the case, but bit harsh judging someone based on two league cup games, always going to take someone a time to settle into a defence and he was never going to get that.

Good luck stephen henderson, all the best.

Giving Portsmouth £2M for him kept them out of financial trouble until the end of the season, we therefore kept the points we gained from the games that season thus avoiding relegation

    If my memory is correct
