FA Cup – Second Round Upsets
One-off Weekend Game
Have fun and represent your forum. We’re probably going to have at least a dozen or so forums in on this. Full credit given to top placings on all participating sites. Honorary prizes: Gold medal, Silver Medal, Bronze medal, plus two diplomas of honour!!
It’s easy! Have a look at the teams at bottom of article for the FA Cup 2nd Round - there are League 1, League 2, Conference (Blue Square) Premier and even lower included on the list. I'd like to invite you to call for FIVE matches where you see a possible upset on the cards! By upset, it must obviously be a lower league side winning (or at least drawing) against a higher league side. You haven't got to give any score, simply guess successful 'smaller club' or ‘minnow’ team! If you get it wrong doesn’t matter at all, you simply don’t get awarded points for that game or games – and will surely apply to all of us in some of the games.
So … how do you get points?
If in your selected games a lower league side does indeed win you have 3 points. If the lower league side force a replay then it is 1 point (doesn’t matter if they later lose the replay). But ... bonus - if you choose an real ‘upset’ (win/draw) – a team from a league TWO tiers OR MORE lower their opponents (according to the four levels below) then those points are DOUBLED. This is the real betting man's stuff - the more you risk with tier difference the more points you get, but there again, an upset is much less likely!! So you need to weigh things up!!
To help you, see the leagues written in after each team to make an easy selection:
L1 = League Division 1
L2 = League Division 2
CP = Conference Premier
C-Lwr = lower than Conference level
Funnily enough, in this year’s pairings there are far many more teams paired together from the same level as is usually the case!
Have fun - answers on this thread please - CAREFUL closing time: 6.59pm FRIDAY night - that's because the Bradford v Brentford game kicks off at 7.45 pm, and I need over half-an-hour of checking as I intend to place this on quite a few other sites too. Points and placings for this one-off experiment on Tuesday (and that's because we're still waiting for Cheltenham v Hereford on Monday night)! Maybe we could repeat this again, if popular, for 3rd Round ... although I’d only do it if we get lots of entries this time!
