That would be "savoury spreads" - that's a whole new ball game. If we're going to start on savoury spreads, it brings up a whole new set of questions. Does spreadable cheese count? Is Marmite the same as Vegemite? Is Gentlemen's Relish made by gentlemen or from gentlemen? Does anyone still eat fish paste?

My husband worked in the brewing and fermenting department of the late great Romford Brewery as a beer recovery technician. One of his jobs was to separate the yeast from the beer ullage received back from pubs, to be collected by "Marmite" on a regular basis.
Incidentally, Marmite is always in my cupboard, and was one of the first words that Lois could say She loves it! Suzanne obviously loves it because it started life swimming in beer.
