A dog called Vegetable

I was walking in the park the other day when I heard a young child ask her mother, “Mummy, why has that man called his dog Vegetable?"

The mum replied, “Oh honey, I doubt very much he’s called his pet such a silly name like Vegetable."

“But he HAS mummy,” the young child indignantly replied, “You listen to when he next calls his dog.”

So, they waited and the man shouted to his dog.

“Oh honey,” the mother said, “He isn’t calling his dog Vegetable, he’s saying to him ‘Fetch the Ball!’.”
