    Commiserations dude

I know it was not what you were hoping for, but I think it was the only outcome you were going to get.

Don't let it get you down, use it as fuel for the determination to succeed.

Sorry to hear that, did you feel that you could have carried on working? Think of the positives though, you can spend more time posting on the forums, you may even get more posts than Mambo Very Happy

Seriously though 23 years service is nothing to scoff at, people these days dont stay in jobs for 23 days let alone 23 years, you should be proud of yourself for doing that.

You should also be proud that with everything you have been through in the past months that you even wanted to go back to work. People these days will get on the sick for the slightest little thing and sponge off the goverment, at least you wanted to go back to work.

You should be used as an example to show some of these people that they can actually work.

You should do something now that you have wanted to do for all the years you could not, take a course in something, you never know it may lead to something that you never expected. Good luck mate Very Happy

Thanks to all. The issue was never financial anyhow. I just wanted and needed to work for my sanity. Fortunately the package is quite generous in the circumstances so will have to see how the process goes and the final figures and conditions work out.

A|lso fortunately I have been through a life changing year (after many years of related change and loss) and that has proved to me just how resolute I am (like most humans) so I get a bit upset thinking of leaving a job I loved but now-because of the last year-I almost believe I can do anything (except hear and walk!!!). So yes, looking forward to the challenges-it has been bought to my attention, through the last years experience, that I always doubted myself-I don't now.

So, I am not unhappy-shame my time there has come to an end-as I said, I loved what I did. I can never do that sort of work again but the world is my lobster. Certainly part-time work is my consideration; as the spazness will always affect me but I can still do-that is all the matters; a year ago I was laying on a bed 24 hours a day and unable to move barely. Be glad of your seemingly small blessings (seemingly to yourself)

Education is also an area I am considering-the difficulty would be my deafness thats all. Law has always been an interest as I did it for O level (and passed) and now Physiology (my made up mix of physiotherapy and Psychology) is of interest-again after my extensive 4 months of rehab.

Life is good peeps. Today I am smilingly happy as I have been since late last year (when things were improving mobility wise) and best of all I have a great family.

At east your not hanging about feeling sorry for yourself. Psychology is a briliant subject to learn, I ma sure there would be some way around it for you. Good luck and hope you get something sorted soon.

You are an inspiration to us all Stuart........How about learning sign language before anything else...then whatever you learnt afterwards you could teach to the deaf and hard of hearing......I'm sure you'd make a great teacher... clap
