Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
Always smile wryly about XL going bust. Their office closed briefly but opened again soon after and is still there. A constructed bankruptcy.
My brother was wearing the XL away shirt when he was cremated.
Will we have a nice light blue patch again? That'll look good on the purple kit!

Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
Tony P and I had a discussion about this by text earlier today. We mooted over Dr Martins making a comeback, decided that they were still selling boots but were not rich enough. I thought the Royal Family would be good as her Maj is a fan. Tony's gonna ask her

Does Tony have an "in" with the family?
What do you think for a logo, Just HM on the front or an image of the crown?

I've seen a few similar type comments dude and this was my reaction:
1) you don't HAVE to buy a new kit when they come out
2) I buy my shirt for the west ham badge, the fact the sponsor is out of date doesn't matter in the least to me
3) we have, imho, improved our status as a club since the alpari deal, so maybe this will give us the opportunity to negotiate a BETTER deal with a bigger company for more money.

Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
Club are talking to at least 3 new sponsors. these will be for next year though
I think there is a rule that shirt sponsors cannot be changed part way through the season

I don't understand why we don't just have Bobby Moore fund as our shirt sponsor , Then West ham could give the charity a % of the profits the club makes , Just think of how many people would buy the shirt if they knew that some of the money was going towards the charity !?!

Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
Great sentimment but the sponsor pays us; its a money making exercise rather than giving money away.
The club has supported the B M F quite vocally (and probably the various sponsors). Brand promotion for charities is more financially rewarding than donations - in as such that it brings a bigger source of potenial donators.

Nice idea but how would we replace the c£3m per year that Alpari were paying us? That is a player's wages gone

Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
Yep - we need to aim higher. What about HSBC? They have their World Headquarters at Canary Wharf and the origins of the bank lie in Hong Kong and Shanghai, areas of the Far East market that we should be looking to impact upon if we are to grow as a global brand. HSBC have sponsored the British Lions Rugby team and it is that level of exposure that we should be looking to hit if we are to move forward, not two-bob, low-exposure companies like Alpari and SBOBet.

You may well be right there Alfie, it was a shit film and I wouldn't want to be associated with it!
Its up to our much vaunted leaders, especially the enobled one to move us up to the level where the likes of HSBC will be interested, the move to the Olympic stadium may help. The 'HSBC Arena' maybe?

Re: Main sponsor - Alpari
If we're going to carry on with that purple third choice strip I reckon we should be talking to Cadburys - the pre-match line up yesterday looked like a row of animated Dairy Milk bars.
