I have it on good authority that what Cole actually told his friends was that he wants to stay in London and that if a London club does NOT come in for him he is willing to stay
I suspect that we want The Tree off our wage bill and he will be sold to the highest bidder whether he likes it or not

Yep! They seem to be his only options and none of them can afford the transfer fee OR his wages. So off to Stoke then Coley !!

West Ham United have had a bid for sought-after Peterborough United striker Craig Mackail-Smith accepted.
The Hammers - hot favourites to win
the Championship next season after their relegation from the Premier
League - have been linked with Mackail-Smith for several weeks and
finally made their move just before the weekend.Their successful
bid is thought to be for in the region of £3 million. They are the
second ambitious Championship club to have a bid for Mackail-Smith
accepted after Leicester City. Posh have not accepted an offer
from League One champions Brighton for Mackail-Smith , although Seagulls
manager Gus Poyet insists he has not given up hope of landing the 27
year-old. Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: “We have now accepted two bids for CMS - from West Ham and Leicester.“It’s
now down to the player and the clubs where he signs. Brighton came to
the table with a strong offer but it wasn’t anywhere near as strong as
Leicester.” Mackail-Smith is understood to have held talks with
Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson on Friday. Sources in Leicester
claim Mackail-Smith is expected to complete a move to the Foxes in the
next few days, but West Ham’s successful bid appears to change the
landscape. Poyet said: “Have Peterborough actually said they have
rejected our offer? It’s not in my hands, it appears to be in Leicester
City’s hands, but the fact that we are going up against clubs like West
Ham and Leicester proves our own ambition.” Posh director of
football Barry Fry revealed recently that Mackail-Smith has already
turned down the chance to join Premier League newcomers Norwich City and
Queens Park Rangers this summer. The claims about the Canaries
were actually refuted by their chief executive David McNally who
insisted the Norfolk club had ended their interest back in March when
failing to prise Mackail-Smith away from Posh on loan.

Re: Craig Mackail-Smith
Looks promising, another striker who could score a hatfull of goals in this league, paired with Bellend or Cole. Hope he is ambitious enough to see we are the better option than the foxes who are looking to buy every player in the lower leagues

Allegedly he has already turned down two Premiership clubs (QPR & Norwich), presumably as he may think they are likely to come straight back down
He may see us as the preferred option as an established Premiership club. Although Leicester with Mandaric and SGE seem to be going in the right direction too

Re: Craig Mackail-Smith
From kumb
Former West Ham transfer target Craig Mickail-Smith is set to join Championship new-boys Brighton & Hove Albion.Mackail-Smith
- whose position West Ham had been tracking for several weeks - is said
to have turned down an offer from Leicester in order to sign for the
Seagulls, who were promoted from League One last season.
Although a number of sources claimed that West Ham had made a concrete
bid for the 27-year-old - including Posh chairman Barry Fry, a close
friend of West Ham chairman David Sullivan - KUMB understands that
United's interest was never more than tentative with Sam Allardyce
though to be looking at other, more fitting targets.
We revealed on Saturday that in addition to West Ham and Leicester a
third, un-named club had entered the race to sign Mickail-Smith.
Brighton, who are currently managed by Gus Poyet, are thought to have
paid around £3.5million for the striker, who has spent all of his career
bar one season in the third tier of Enlish football or lower.

Hmmm maybe he knows he won't cut it at a bigger club, after all he is a jockenese international! Does show a distinct lack of ambition on his part of he goes to Brighton.

Re: Craig Mackail-Smith
More news nicked
West Ham have missed out on Craig Mackail-Smith after the Peterborough striker agreed a four-year deal with Brighton.
The Hammers had a reported £3m offer for the 27-year-old accepted and he has also held talks with Leicester City.
But the Seagulls came in with a late offer and Gus Poyet's side have
persuaded him to join the newly-promoted Championship club.
Guess thats it then , oh well

What a crock of horse shit Fry
From Talk Sport
Peterborough United director of football, Barry Fry, has backed Craig Mackail-Smith’s decision to snub West Ham and Leicester City and join Brighton And Hove Albion.
The Scottish striker appeared to be on the verge of a move to either Upton Park or the Walkers Stadium and even spoke to Sam Allardyce and Sven Goran Eriksson.
But in the end the striker who fired the Posh into the Championship via a play-off victory at Old Trafford this season opted to join Gus Poyet’s Brighton.
Fry told talkSPORT: “Brighton have got huge ambitions and they’ll be dark horses next season knocking on that door to get in the Premier League, I assure you of that.
“Craig Mackail-Smith never went to Brighton for money, I’m absolutely one billion percent sure. It’s not a case of money it’s a case of ambition. He feels Brighton have got ambition and he obviously feels Brighton will be as big a club, if not bigger, than West Ham and Leicester. Only time will tell who’s right and who’s wrong.
“I think Brighton are a very, very ambitious club, Tony Bloom their chairman phoned me from Australia in the transfer window in January and offered a substantial amount of money which I put to our chairman and he turned it down because he wanted Craig to help us get promotion which he has.
“It’s a real family love affair [for the Bloom’s], they’re real, real supporters with real, real ambitions and I’ve got to tell you their passion, their commitment and their urgency blew everyone out of the water to be quite honest.
“Craig Mackail-Smith has been a magnificent servant for Peterborough United football club. He scored 99 goals in 209 games. He got 35 goals last season to get us promotion, he’s been involved in three promotions in four years and I can’t see one Posh fan that would begrudge him going wherever he wants to go.”

Re: Craig Mackail-Smith
Brighton have a great young manager in Gus Poyet but to cite them as being "bigger, better, more ambitious etc" is just rubbish
He is clearly not confident enough to a) play in the Premier League or b) go to a big club with high expectations
Good riddance
