Telegraph Sport can reveal that Allardyce, the West Ham manager, tabled an offer for Jarvis on Tuesday afternoon as he attempted to make his first major recruitment since guiding the club back to the top flight.

Wolves are expected to reject the offer as they rate Jarvis at around £10 million but West Ham have made the first move for a player that was always likely to be targeted after relegation to the Championship.

Steve Morgan, the Wolves chairman, is intent on demanding a significant fee for Jarvis, who only cost an initial £400,000 from Gillingham in 2007.

Morgan will point to the fact that the 26 year-old made his debut for England last year, making an appearance as a second-half substitute against Ghana, and has also performed consistently in the Premier League for the past three campaigns.

West Ham are not prepared to meet the strict fee that will be required to prise Jarvis out of Molineux but will make a second, improved offer if their opening gambit is turned down. Allardyce could also face competition from Stoke City, with Tony Pulis a long-term admirer.

    West Ham wanted Quagliarella
    By Football Italia staff

It’s reported West Ham’s offer for Fabio Quagliarella was rebuffed, but they are in talks for Juventus duo Milos Krasic and Eljero Elia.

The rumours began to swirl around when Sky Sport Italia cameras caught Hammers manager Sam Allardyce in a meeting with Juve director Fabio Paratici in Italy this afternoon.

According to the latest reports, Allardyce initially went to ask after striker Quagliarella, but was told in no uncertain terms this move would not go through.

Instead, Juve are in talks to either loan or sell wingers Krasic and Elia.

Wigan Athletic midfield man Momo Diame is in talks with West Ham over the possibility of joining the Premier League new boys

The Senegal international will become a free agent on the 1st July when his contract with the Latics expires, although it is understood that there is an offer on the table for the 24 year old to stay at the DW Stadium, but it looks like he is determined to move on to pastures new.

Diame has held talks with both Liverpool and Sunderland recently but Sky Sports are reporting that it is the Hammers that are now in the driving seat to tie up a deal with the silky skilled midfield man.

Diame joined the Latics from Rayo Vallecano in August 2009 and he has made 89 appearances since arriving scoring 7 goals along the way.

QPR will fly representatives to England’s Euro 2012 training camp later this week to complete the signing of West Ham keeper Robert Green.

A free agent after rejecting a new offer, Green has agreed a deal worth about £50,000 a week.

West Ham are in pole position to land Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga in a £4m deal.

The 24-year-old Mali forward almost joined Newcastle in January but the deal collapsed amid concerns over a knee problem.

Maiga is confident there will be no problems this time around and is also attracting interest from Stoke.

Reports in French newspaper L'Equipe claim West Ham are leading the chase to land his signature.

Sam Allardyce is looking to bolster his forward line and is also monitoring Norwich's Grant Holt and Evian's Yannick Sagbo
