Talent-wise, the Blues loanee has that same on-the-ball ability and swagger as Gazza, he reckons.
Morrison, 19, caught the eye with his goalscoring debut performance in the friendly against Royal Antwerp.
And although Morrison has had plenty of scrapes off the field and at first club Manchester United, Clark says he and Blues will do all they can to help, advise and guide him
“He’s a special player,” said the manager.
“I was lucky enough to be around when a young Paul Gascoigne broke on to the scene at Newcastle.
“I remember watching him against Manchester United and totally dominating the England captain then, Bryan Robson, and Remi Moses, two fantastic players.
“He just had this aura about him, that the ball was like a magnet to him.
“Ravel, without putting too much pressure on him, in terms of that is similar.
“Paul went on and was on the verge of becoming the best player in the world until he did his knee in the FA Cup final. Ravel has got that type of mentality where he always wants to be on the ball, he’s always trying to create things. He has got great composure.
“We have got to realise he is only 19 as well, so there will be errors in there sometimes.
“But he’s certainly a player who excites me and is one we are looking forward to working with.”
Morrison joined Blues on a season-long loan from West Ham United. He moved there from Manchester United in January.
On the controversy that has dogged him, Clark stressed: “Without going too much into it, I did a lot of homework on certain things that were reported, or issues, and got to the bottom of why these types of situations might have happened.
“And all I can say is that since he’s been with us he’s been fantastic.
“He’s a young boy, we have all been there and made errors. I’ve just said to him that I’m going to give him the licence to entertain people and go and be a positive on the football pitch, which he wants to do.
“It’s up to him to make sure everything is done right in and around that. We will help him along those lines.
‘‘We will advise him. We have to be a good example and push him in the right direction. He has got good senior players to look up to in the dressing room.”
