Sky.............

I decided that in the current situation that I would make some drastic money saving changes....

so Sky movies and Sky sports have been dumped......ive never been without Sky Sports....not sure Ill survive

anyways.....I goes on the sky website and does the chat thing online with Anil.....

he or she im not sure to be honest.....says I noticed you have been a customer for a long time....thanking me for this....

blah blah blah blah blah blah......it went on for quite a while.....what we watch....what I want......

basically I stripped it all down to pretty much I just want the channels for the children to watch their programmes.....

£26 he says.....thats with a £4 discount that no one else gets......we also have phone and broadband £19.75 a month as well....

so going from £91 to £56.....£46 when I phone to cancel the HD package........

So I says so for my long service that you thanked me for I get £4 discount.....well you get more if you add it up....gee thanks I says

So you have to wait 31 days for it to kick in and after that date if you have anything recorded on Sky + that was on those channels

you have dumped you can no longer watch those.......how finguck petty.

He said I hope this is a short situation and I will look to upgrading in the future.....to which I said I will do all I can to not

upgrade with you and actually look to leave completely when the phone contract is up in January.

I hope I can cope with out it.

Just been on to our TV people having a moan up . 2 seasons ago I noticed that I could watch any Prem game I wanted to then we got relegated and it was,nt worth it so I cancelled that part and just get one football channel now . Then the whole thing went tits up and we dont get anything at 15:00 , so I am looking to do away with the sports channels altogether but we have to wait 3 months , ,s . What I did find was a new thing where on the puter I can get any prem game I want for free for the first 3 months then 7 squids a month for the rest of the season , not bad in my opinion . They say the quality is very good , so I will check it out on the Swans game then decide if I,ll go out and buy a cable to hook up to the TV .
What pisses me off is that you have to buy a package with these tv fuckers , why not just be able to pick the channels you want instead of having a whole load of crap channels that you never watch

The old man is giving me some money each month, so I decided to add on Sky sports cos I've not had it for about 3 years now.

Virgin media, don't have the red button facility, so I ordered with sky, online. TV, Phone and Broadband (every day lite ) About 54 quid.

When trying to cancel with Virgin, they say they do now have the red button thingy, I would still get some HD channels free (not bothered with HD, I don't think it's all that really) and unlimited broadband, which they are upgrading to 30mg. They'll match Sky's price.

Phoned Sky to cancel. They asked why, told them and they, in a heartbeat, offered for 12 months, to cut the price of my package by half. 26 quid a month. I had to take it - but I'm not sure how long I've signed up for......Probably a lifetime at a huge increase Will have to cross that bridge when I get to it!

They are bastards Darran....It's all for new customers only. I know, that come the end of the year, I'll be in the position you are now with them......stuck!!

If you're only in a contract with the phone, why not see what it will cost for virgin media TV and Broadband. You have to have phone as well, but it could w**k out cheaper as you are a new customer

Or my sister just got a deal with BT. Phone, broadband and TV. Pause and rewind TV, Record, series link and all that a sky+ box does - £17 a month.

You'll still need a phoneline for broadband

Darran, I feel your pain mate. When Ian lost his job I did the same thing, cut everything down to the bare minimum. Stopped using the tumble dryer and the dishwasher, turned the heating off and put on another jumper. Cut down our food bill from £500 a months to £150. Because of this we survived on one wage and never once missed a mortgage payment.

But I couldn’t part with Sky Sports, I just couldn’t do it. We are with Virgin and have a TV, phone, broadband deal thing. I cut it down as much as I could but if I couldn’t have a West Ham season ticket I wasn’t losing the sports channels. I often went without breakfast & lunch and even booze just so I could pay for it.

Darran if we lived closer you could come to my house and watch the football anytime you wanted. In fact if you can get to Woolwich you are more than welcome.

Trying to adjust funds to join the gym with me bro as well so as I will be making his gym time more bearable with my presence

You pay for what comes in, and then again for the same amount going back out.

Essex and suffolk do a free pack for customers.....Or you can check here for your supplier.

saved over 180 quid a year when we went onto water meter. Still top up the pond, wash the car, never consciously try to save water .
