Cole always needed to be told what to do.
Left to his own devices he got nowhere fast.
I always regarded him as one of the reason we went down under Roader, how he was made captain I will never know.
Just wanted to play for himself. Hislop was right about him.
When he went to Chelsea and did not play under orders he got pulled off.
Which meant he got pulled off in nearly every game under the special one in his first season. It took him along time to play in a team as his manager wanted him too.

I thought that was a good read geezer! very fair and balanced article and I still smiled when I got to the bottom bit and saw the speculation about a return to west ham. I think English managers in general dont know what to do with these type of players. Man U and fergie even managed to fupp up with Veron. You can accommodate a player like this in your team as long as you have two industrious midfielders to cover the back four.

The season we went down could have its own forum there is so much to debate on that one. We managed to get relegated with some fantastic individuals. Personally I think its mainly down to having a few talented few players, specially in attacking positions but a very small squad (didn't we play Pearce up front for a few games) and defenders not of the same caliber as the forwards. IMHO
