Carroll axed

Andy Carroll has been omitted from the England squad to face Sweden in a friendly next week.

Roy Hodgson has named a 23-man squad for the trip to Stockholm next week but Carroll, who is yet to score for West Ham since moving to the Boleyn on a season-long loan, has not been included.

Instead, Hodgson has taken the reasonably unusual step of naming just three strikers in his squad - Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck plus Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge.

The in-form Mark Noble, who was watched by Hodgson in Saturday's goalless draw with Manchester City has once again been overlooked in favour of the likes of Leon Osman (Everton), Raheem Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey (both Liverpool).

Tried to get tickets for this for me and Mrs G , away end totaly sold out and the swede end only had the most expensive seats left , VIP , fcuk that its only a friendly . Miss G has entered a competition for two tickets and she said if she wins she will take me . Fingers crossed

Walker Caulker Bertrand Jonjo, who the fupp are these blokes!

Basically pulled in from the under 21s. I saw them play in September and apart from Caulker they were all shit. Shelvey was the worst player on the pitch!! Truly awful.

It's a friendly, ideal opportunity to look at alternatives.

Don't expect wholesale changes for the next competitive match.

Glad non of ours are in the squad at least they cant get injured in a meaningless friendly!

rooney injured today, so i would assume that carrol will get a call up after all? also can someone explain how "the hills have eyes" shelvey is in the squad as every time i see him which is every week (cos the mickeys are on the box every week) he is SHIT!!!!! ??
