Re: Adkins got the tin tack
Although Adkins always came over as too smug to be likeable, I can't help thinking that Southampton have shot themselves in the foot good and proper with this. To bring in an Argentinian with no Prem experience whatsoever, just at the point when their form seems to have turned the corner, just seems crass stupidity to me. But hell, these foreign owners all know best don't they?? Could be Blackburn all over again.
I bet I'm not the only one who was about to take the Saints off my " teams who will definitely finish below us" list - well, they are reinstated now. Could be some talent there who are well unsettled by this, start sniffing Sam!

Re: Adkins got the tin tack
Back to back promotions........Personally I think it was the wrong move, Adkins has showed he has what it takes to get the best out of what you are given and to be able to hang onto most of your talent.....Think he might do alright at a club like Leeds.....Although I reckon he will be looking at the Villa job when Lambert gets the sack.

Re: Adkins got the tin tack
Agreed smug wnaker, but has done a good job at Saints, who I used to like a lot in the old dell days with big Laurie Mc in charge. They just feel like a plastic club now, ALA Reading and cheatski. Think this is a big wrong move by the owners (or is there a hidden story here?)

Re: Adkins got the tin tack
from the saints official
looks like transfer funds could have been the tipping point
“Mauricio is a well-respected coach of substantial quality who has gained a reputation as an astute tactician and excellent man manager. I have every confidence that he will inspire our talented squad of players to perform at the highest possible level.
“He also shares my belief that the most successful clubs are built by nurturing young players through a development system that provides a clear path to the First Team, thereby creating a culture that keeps them at the Club for the long term. This is an approach he has employed with great success in the past and I look forward to him bringing that experience and expertise to Southampton.”

Re: Adkins got the tin tack
No sympathy for the smug, ungracious scouse prick TBH. Never gave any team that played against them any credit whatsoever. A complete tool IMO

Re: Adkins got the tin tack
Great news for us, because he was starting to get results. Also, he has the kind attitude and face that I would love to slap silly, So MOTD will be easier on the eye from tomorrow night.
