could just be a way of getting lower interest rates on the cash that was already owned, bit like taking out a new credit card and transfering the balance

Not enough detail in the question for a considered answer.

    I'm hidden?? Didn't realise.

    Just clicked the link.

    1) It's the Daily Mail so article needs to be read removing any bias.

    2) It's not like we're doing a Leeds and basing it on future gate receipts. If it's based on minimum TV revenue then that'll be the amount we would get for finishing 17th. The higher up the league we finish, the more TV money we get. As any borrowings made against it this season would only be up to what we would receive in Parachute Payments should we be relegated, it seems to make sense. Although we are not privy to the interest level.

    3) The Daves are both astute businessmen. You have to trust their judgement that this is the best course of action to maintain our Premier League status by investing the money in improving the team.

    4) Several teams are already doing this. Teams that are well established in the Premier League. If that's what they have to do to maintain their Premier League status and are considered to be well run clubs......................
