Poppies ....... a great idea from a dude in canning town

Next year is the Commemeration of the outbreak of WWI and I just thought to myself, what a good idea if everyone bought a packet of Poppy seeds (or 2) from B&Q or wherever and scattered them in random places, ie: hedghrows, traffic roundabouts, empty back garden borders, planters etc. (not somewhere that is mown or tended to regularly by the Commissioners, for example. Then, this time next year, when they flower, we would all be looking at Poppy's in rememberance of those who fell during the 1914-1918 War. 'Like' this comment but , more importantly, SHARE it as I'd love it to go Global with this and get the whole planet involved in 'Plant A Poppy Day

Great idea with only one problem.........The amount of opium that would be available every single year would be astronomical.......Everyone would be so off their faces that they probably won't know which day to remember!

Could be another way to get the deficit down though

What a fantastic idea! Up the noses at thise that say that poppy day, and the lives lost in conflict, should not be remembered.

Good idea , the best thing is I live right next to our town park & there are loads of unattended fields & grass banks, all can be seen from the park.

I will make a detour to B&Q after work tomoz and pick couple up and do it over the weekend.
