Re: England V Italia
Blimey, has Henderson really had that good a season? Wasn't that long ago he was labelled a flop....
Edit: I thought we had Italy first?

That's a good side but we'll never be allowed to put it out. They've got different coloured shirts on.

Looks like motorcycle has hit a quad bike on it, as well. Is that sand or bald bits?? either way the groundsman's bonus looks in serious doubt.

It is a brand new stadium Jiggs. Shame the whole infrastructure seems to be a fur-lined, ocean-going cluster fcuk from the outside

Re: England V Italia
I found the full quote
"Frankly, Manaus is in bad shape," said Carlos Botella, head groundsman for the Royal Verd company which is responsible for the turf at Manaus.
"The maintenance has been complicated."
Botella added: "There are no roads. All the machinery and materials had to be brought by ship. There was no fertilizer and no seeds.
"Now we have put fertilizer down. We will increase the fertilizing process with biostimulants and seeds to try to get the most out of the grass."

Re: England V Italia
that pitch is FROM the 270 million stadium jiggly one. and from what I have read, once it's hosted its 4 games it will have no furthe ruse as its so remote no team will take up residence?

Barry Hearn has demanded that Orient should have first refusal - if at first you don't succeed, etc, etc...........

Re: England V Italia
positive to take from the performance I guess. But i honestly thought England could get a draw (min) from this one, I didn't see Italy as a fantastic team so a bit disappointed with the result. The positives were the performances of some of the young talented forward players coming through. Negatives are we seemed to get sloppy and run out of ideas last 20 minutes. Rooney still flatters to deceive for me. We don't have a Pirlo type figure (Tony P will probably say carsick should be in squad at least if not starting). The defence just isn't as good as previous defences (Rio, Terry, Cole, G. Neville, Campbell etc).

Re: England V Italia
I thought we could get a draw from this game, played quite well for the most part but I do agree with the comments about the defence, and midfield had no one near to Pirlo's class. sack Rooney now as he is a waste of flippin space (INHO) I don't care how many goals the ugly twat scores for manure or in qualifying at the this level he has failed every time. Play Sturridge and sterling and Lambert if needs be but clear him out now, oh and Welbeck as well not good enough.
Have two very tough games coming up and it does not look good for getting to the last 16 after this loss.

Probably not "carsick" but definitely Carrick dude ! Henderson looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights every time the ball comes near him. It is like a hot potato. He cannot wait to get rid of it - to anyone, anywhere. Carrick brings calm and an excellent range of passing. Admittedly Henderson has the "legs" on Carrick and maybe Woy thinks Gerrard needs that around him. Frankly if their job is to shield the back four then they don't need to get around the pitch that much do they? Rooney just doesn't seem to perform in tournament football. It's not like he doesn't have the talent. Maybe he just doesn't give a shit - despite what he says to the contrary. In addition to that he gave Baines NO help down our left whatsoever. At the back we really seem to struggle when there is only one striker to mark. The gaps between our centre backs and our central midfield were gaping; holes that I expected Gerrard and Henderson to fill
Having said all that I still think that if Woy can be brave enough to withdraw Rooney if he is not performing and we can take our chances, we have enough to beat Uruguay and Costa Rica
