West Bromwich Albion V West Ham United Empty West vs West (Ham vs Brom, that is)

Post  westhamonkey Tue 02 Dec 2014, 8:57 pm

    what?

    no one cares?

terrible opening spell, West Brom all over us and deservedly taking the lead... piss poor defending. Why is Ginge not laying?

as usual, Carroll is manfully handling his deep midfield role... which makes no sense whatsoever...

    Nolan hustling and bustling...

    not looking good...

but then Nolan scrambles the ball into the net to get us level and we step up our possession and level of play...

then right at the death, we get a corner... Tomkins rises and pops it into the back of the net...

Hopefully we can come out and put things to rights in the second half... but at least we got ourselves back in front... cos it was looking bad there for a few minutes...

I am going to take credit for the turn in fortunes in this game, I started watching online just before we scored our first.

Not a bad performance from what I've seen, Nolan even putting in a good shift so far.

More of the same second half please.

2nd half wasn't quite the march to victory we'd have liked... From had us under the hammer for way too long and it was totally itchy bum time... but ultimately they couldn't break through and we saw it out for a valuable road win - although we maintain our run of always conceding away from home, fortunately it didn't cost us the three points.

Valencia came on as a sub - so that's good news that he's nearly back.

all that matters is the win... and we got it.

Not a great performance. Gave the ball away too often and not good at the back - especially for the first 20 minutes

Tomkins made Anichebe look like Diego Costa. He destroyed him; not for the first time either. He did it when he was at Everton too

Zarate certainly didn't make a case for starting again

Two great saves by Adrian but I wish he would stop the histrionics and fupping about with the ball

My MoM? Kevin Nolan. Really put a shift in

Nolan certainly did everything required, as well as scoring one of his trade mark goals. missing song and not having Downing playing in the centre. Defence looked shaky all game, Tomkins may have scored the winner but he had a dreadful game.

Carroll did manfully again but was on a different wavelength to Zarate, great technique for the overhead kick, hopefully he will get a goal soon, or when Sakho is back he'll be benched.

If Song and Sakho are back at the weekend it'll be a cracker against the sheep shaggers, we'll need them both as the Swans will be no push overs.

Depth of the squad is a big plus this year, injuries and rotation means players are getting rested,
24 points by the start of December, took us until mid Feb last year

Song, Noble and Sahko should all be back for the weekend, Valencia now fit again, we are going into the Christmas period with options ... Not really West Ham is it cheesey grin

Thought the first half was poor on our part and seemed to be going back into the old " Long Ball " routine but once we got one back then West Ham up,ed it and played some good football like we are getting used to . Thought Nolan looked cream crackerd early but put in a good shift Carole seemed just want to argue with anyone that looked at him in the wrong way . Need our injured back and I also think Zarate needs more time . Good win , at least we are fighting back after going behind to win the game . Seams weird

Is it to early to suggest that we may have one of our best xmas periods since Sam has been at the club this year ?!?
I mean you look at our Fixture`s and then look at our strength in depth we have - It`s possible that come the new year we could still be 5th maybe even higher West Bromwich Albion V West Ham United 780148547

We are going into the busiest period with what could be a fully fit squad which means we could rotate and rest player`s etc when was the last time we could do that ???

None of us knows how long this spell of good form/ good fortune is going to last, but the omens are good.
We're not relying on one player to score the bulk of our goals. It's difficult for the opposition to set up against us because we have several options as to how we go into a game, and can change mid-game if needs be . We are now a handful for anyone to play against. We don't collapse if we go behind. We can cope with injuries in the squad. There's still room for improvement, particularly at the back, so we could play even better with the squad that we have.
Good times indeed. And it has to be said that this is the result of the owners persevering with BFS, someone I never wanted to see at my club TBH. He's still not as good as he thinks he is, but he deserves appreciation and respect for what has been achieved so far.
