Meet Britain's most dedicated football fan who has visited EVERY league ground - plus 23 who've moved home

John Leekey has just joined the elite Ninety-Two Club by watching a match at every current stadium

Football-mad John Leekey has been named Britain’s most dedicated fan after visiting 115 league grounds. He joined the elite Ninety-Two Club by watching a match at every current stadium in the top four divisions. But the grandad, 64, has also racked up 23 more due to teams moving home.

John got hooked on football in 1967 after seeing Coventry City play Wolves at Highfield Road. He explained:

“From that day I’ve followed the Sky Blues to all the grounds in the top flight and worked my way through the divisions. I never originally set out to visit all the league grounds, it’s something that just developed.”

Married John, of Nuneaton, Warks, has watched Coventry at 84 different venues – the most of any fan following their team. He said:

“Nobody has done the 92 and seen their club play at all of them. It is virtually impossible.”

John has kept a log of the 1,200 games he has been to, noting everything from pubs to pies. He considers Liverpool FC’s Anfield to be the best stadium.

John added: “I’ve had some great times but there have also been some sad, lonely trips.”
