Sunderland V West Ham United FC Sunder%20v%20WH_zpsewr7okic

Sunderland will be hoping to claim their first victory of the season when West Ham visit the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Dick Advocaat's side have started the season in terrible form, and are propping up the Premier League table having claimed just two points from their first seven games.
West Ham, meanwhile, have had a very different opening to their campaign, and are currently sitting in third with 13 points.
It is their away form which will be of most concern to the Black Cats as Slaven Bilic's side have a 100 per cent record on the road so far following wins at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
    Team news
Sunderland boss Advocaat does not envisage any fresh injury concerns, and he will be tempted to restore striker Jermain Defoe to his starting line-up after leaving the former England man on the bench for last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Manchester United.
Defoe has fully recovered from the hamstring problem that dogged him in the build-up to the trip to Old Trafford while Jack Rodwell is also aiming to return from an ankle injury, but Adam Matthews (ankle) remains sidelined.
Andy Carroll could make his first league start in more than eight months for West Ham at Sunderland. Carroll tore ligaments in his knee in February but came off the bench against Norwich last weekend and is expected to shake off a sore ankle ahead of the game at the Stadium of Light.
Angelo Ogbonna (hamstring) and Alex Song (ankle) are both out while Winston Reid is a doubt with a hip problem. Enner Valencia has returned to light training following a knee injury but is short of match fitness
    Opta stats
    Merson's prediction
It just doesn't get any easier for Sunderland, does it? If you looked at this at the start of the season you would have probably said this wasn't a bad game for Sunderland, but West Ham are probably the worst team to play at the moment at home.
West Ham have been phenomenal on the road this season and they are set up perfectly for the win. Sunderland will have to come out and have a go and that plays right into West Ham's hands. They've counter attacked a lot better teams than Sunderland and they'll be too strong come Saturday.

Sloppy back passing YET again gifts them a goal , some terrible defending from West Ham and really not in it for the first 44 mins ....... good to get one right at the end of half time , changes needed in the second and that #### guacamole should of been booked for waving a invisible card for Nobes booking ...... prick

Most of the Sunderland team were winging on and on for fouls, hand balls etc., dirty and desperate!  Their fans were even more desperate ... lol.

Not entirely happy with a draw, under the circumstances. But happier than I would have been under Allerdyce, who no doubt would have done nothing giving us no chance to fight back.

Pleased with the point, probably would even have taken the point before kick off, when your team has the spirit to come back from goals down its always a good sign, everything else can be worke don. When u lose the dressing room (as the cliche goes) then all hope is lost. Onwards and upwards, COYIS

ps at 2-1 but with an extra man I did put a fiver on a win, really thought we might do it.

can't be happy with a point - that's 4 points dropped over the last two games and once again, with three 'easy' opponents and chelsea we were looking at 9, 10 or even 12 points from four games where we're being typical West Ham and now only a maximum of 8 is possible...

that being said... it was nice not to lose... in days of old a team with no victory and an ex on the bench would have been our undoing... so a fightback and a draw is okay...

but having said that... not being able to get past ten men and the crappiest (apart from Newcastle) team in the division is pretty pants...

that being said... I'd rather be us than chelsea...

Always approach any away game thinking a point will do. Before a home game I expect 3 points against all but the very best. Applying that formula gives u a top 8 position. agree that Sunderland are the worst, but there's still some quality in the team, a good manager there and a large number of fans to come alive and support their team if they see some encouragement.

So can live with the point. Better the be happy then fuming after all  hatsoff

Bilic is starting to annoy me with his "loyalty" to some players - particularly in our midfield. Noble gets himself booked after 3 minutes then proceeds to do his normal running around a lot but not actually marking anyone - leaving it to someone else while he points -and our opponents stroll through our midfield. How can he continually leave a player more mobile, technically better and more disciplined like Obiang on the bench. Moses had a great game against Newcastle but has looked poor since. What has Antonio got to do to get his chance?

I don't want our starting 11 to become an old boys club like it did under Allardyce. We have had too many poor first halves this season. That can only come from complacency. It is easy to be "up for it" away at Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City and there is obviously no room for complacency in those games. Yet against Leicester, Bournemouth, Norwich and now Sunderland the players look like they only have to turn up to win

Got to say that I think Obiang should be playing instead of Noble.
Just can't see how Noble can be captain when he makes more mistakes then the others.
Feel we are not playing well in midfield and need to make changes.

I think the Problem with Noble is he is so passionate about playing for West ham it gets the better of him some times with making rash tackles early on and misplaces passes etc but I do think he is a good player and Once Song gets fit I think him and Noble will form a decent Understanding in midfield with each other

Personally I like the idea of a club captain who is 110% claret-and-blue, even if he's not world class. We have a lot of new faces that need to understand just what this club means to people.

Great point Semi.  There is so much more to a captain than a few missed passes in a game.

Noble never gives up and always gives 100%.  How many penalties has he missed?  He created our second goal at Manc City, scored at Anfield and there's been some creative stuff too.  His determination is a fantastic example to his team mates. His high reputation off the pitch is to be admired and will command respect. John Terry anyone?

Maybe there are better options for our midfield in Song, Obiang and Antonio that would see Noble in danger of being dropped.  He knows that, furthermore he'll accept it and do everything in his power to rectify it.

I suppose, ideally your captain should be a regular starter, but is this actually written in stone? I'd like to think that Noble and Bilic have some understanding here, after all we've all witnessed that Bilic takes no prisoners.
