I remember driving up to Blackpool in a minibus for a stag weekend back in 1990. We hit roadworks & ground to a halt. all of us were fascinated by 2 workmen who stood holding a piece of string between them for about 10 minutes & not moving at all before we drove slowly along. Our driver hurled some effective abuse out of the window at them which at least made them turn their heads.

Its an ongoing joke here whenever going past roadworks to see how many are actually working and how many are leaning on shovels watching. Usually 1 or 2 working with 6 or 7 standing there watching

spent about 15 miles on the M1 yesterday in 50mph limit with those bastard average speed cameras... not one finguck workman to be seen for 15 miles
