I think BFS is quite well aware of that. Trouble is that Piq's still on a contract from the PL days pulling in shedloads of money, and he's only going to move when someone else is prepared to pay the same. And the only real chance of unloading him to anyone is if he's still a first team player. My guess would be that Sam and the elderly pornographers are praying that he shows some glimmering of form to make him a bit more appealing to someone, somewhere. People can boo all they like, but the man is laughing all the way to the bank.

My first game for two seasons, lovely to sit with my old muckers, but what a shower of shite we are! Top of the league, I can barley believe it. If we go up on this show we will come striaght back down. No invention, a workmanlike midfield at best. Cole must have some nasty illness to be left on his own like that, and baldrick will want a transfer if we waste his undoubted talents in this way, stuck out on the right, and at times deeper than Foobear!

Loads of wayward passing in the middle, no idea what position Collison was suppossed to be playing. The only positive points for me were the two CB's who looked strong, Diop looked good till he went off. We do not attack down the wings with any confidence, both Linda and Foobear ran 20-30m and stopped to sling a hopeful ball in from about 25m short of the byline, crazy?

The atmosphere was flat and the crowd knew that we don't deserve to be top of the league! Was very dissapointed at what i saw, but all those around me warned me not to expect to much and they were right. We will go up I think, but something needs to be done and quick to ensure we start winning games like this in a half decent manner

Rant over, missed me cuddle Jiggs but got a quick snog off Suz in the supps club to make up for it cheesey grin

    Big Sam After the game

Sam Allardyce was all smiles after watching his West Ham United team go top of the npower Championship table for the first time this season.

Mark Noble converted two penalties - his fifth and sixth successful spot-kicks of the campaign - as the Hammers beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the Boleyn Ground.

Big Sam was happy to see his side pick up their third successive league victory, despite the manager admitting they had not played their best football in overcoming the struggling Reds.

"For me, I think the first penalty was quite fortunate," said the manager. "We got two penalties and we've got to be professional to dispose of the opposition when we get the opportunity and I think they just settled us down a bit.

"It wasn't our best of games today and when you can drag one out when you're not on your best day and not on your best form it shows the resilience and the commitment of the players. All good teams at the top have to win a game when they don't play at their best and we've done that today.

"We're disappointed in our performance but we are very delighted that we won another very valuable three points. Of course it brings us three wins on the trot again and we're back on a winning streak, as it were."

Big Sam was also delighted with the news that the ever-impressive James Tomkins has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until at least 2016. The Basildon-born defender put pen to paper on the deal ahead of the game, with the news relayed to the Boleyn Ground ahead of kick-off

"It's great that James Tomkins has decided to sign a new contract with us and he's been really good for us and really consistent this season."

While Southampton will have the chance to knock the Hammers of their perch when they host Leicester City on Monday evening, BIg Sam insisted that everything at the club is pointing in the right direction.

"More players are coming back from injuries and being available for selection and it's ten days before we play our next game now so I think it was important that we did win this one. As hard as we made it for ourselves, we have won it.

"Tomorrow it's three points when we look at the table and we're three points ahead of Southampton and we're where we wanted to be at the end of today's game. We haven't done it how we wanted to but we've done it."

While the first half was largely disappointing, Noble's added-time penalty aside, the second half was a more enjoyable 45 minutes for West Ham's players, management and supporters.

When Noble slotted home his second spot-kick on 63 minutes, the home team visibly relaxed and began to knock the ball around in confident fashion. Indeed, Jack Collison missed two presentable chances and Henri Lansbury saw a rasping half-volley turned over the crossbar by Lee Camp.

Forest winger Lewis McGugan did net a 30-yard special in the dying seconds, but it was nothing more than a consolation for Steve Cotterill's men.

"We created more chances in the second half but so did Forest," admitted Big Sam. "It's clear that their problem is the fact that their team can create chances but they just can't finish them.

"They had two super, super chances on Tuesday against Leicester [in a 4-0 FA Cup defeat] and they missed both of them and again they missed good chances today so perhaps we're slightly fortunate playing a team like Forest who have struggled to finish chances when created.

"In the end we've gotten a very, very valuable three points which takes us to the top of the league for the first time."

With his team now out of action until they travel to Ipswich Town on 31 January, the manager said he would be working the transfer market to try to add reinforcements. At the same time, he hopes a number of injured players will be ready to feature at Portman Road.

"It is ten days before our next game and we'll keep searching for new players if we can but we've now got Matt Taylor back and Guy Demel is coming back. Papa Bouba Diop picked up a thigh injury today but there's ten days so he can recover.

"Robert Hall came on for 20 minutes or so and we saw him at Sheffield Wednesday so we know we've got a good young player in our midst with plenty of ability so we can develop him as well as Dan Potts."

Didnt hear anyone boo Piquiooneee when he came on from where I was sitting. He, Carew and Hall were all clapped when they were warming up down at the TB stand end. The crowd did go very quiet when he came on, as if they were bemused at what BFS was doing, I've got to say I was scratch

And Steve Cotterill after the game

Nottingham Forest were denied the chance of picking up at least a point today after a poor refereeing decision gave West Ham a penalty.

Manager Steve Cotterill was in no doubt that it was not a penalty, saying: "We were let down by the officials today, the first penalty was a ridiculous decision.

"Even the second was debatable, if it hit Gunter's arm it only hit the hairs on it, but I can understand why that one was given.

"We were the better team and have lost 2-1, we played good football today against the team that is going to be promoted."

Cotterill welcomed the return of Wes Morgan in defence and added: "Today I got my team back, there are a few more round pegs in a few more round holes.

"We had two centre backs today, the team was better balanced, we were better in midfield because we had Moussi there, McGugan and McCleary were both excellent today."

Cotterill also spoke about the possibility of Morgan going to Leicester, saying: "I don't want to sell Wes, you've seen what happens when he comes into the back four.

"If we could keep him here and get all our defenders fit we're OK at the back, I don't need a defender if they're all fit, it would be nice not to sell anyone."

Forest have a ten-day break now until they play Burnley at the City Ground on January 31st.

It seems we never do it the way we want to, that's us the fans anyway......Haven't for a long time now....I realise that it's priority to get back into the prem, but shouldn't we also be building a team that has a half decent chance of staying there too?

"We created more chances in the second half but so did Forest," admitted Big Sam. "It's clear that their problem is the fact that their team can create chances but they just can't finish them.

Ring any bells a bit closer to home Sam? I bloody well hope so. It's all well and good saying that we can "drag one out when you're not on your best form" or "all good teams at the top have to win a game when they don't play at their best", but to repeat the scenario week after week?

Forgive me if I can't be over the moon that we are "top of the league". Even if we are still there Tuesday morning, it is just by default, by luck, by thanks to the officials awarding us penalties. We need to stay there/get back there by right, not by relying on all of the above plus Southampton and the up and coming teams F'cking up. 🇳🇴

Cotterill is a cock - we didnt get a free kick until the 36th minute and that wasnt becuase Forrest were being nice. He came out with the same crap when we beat his Portsmouth side West Ham United V Nottingham Forest - Page 4 3725042725

There was a little bit of booing. Enough for Piquionne to have heard it that is for sure. A rant is perfectly acceptable. After another shit cross from Faubert on Saturday I told him to "f**k off" and he told me to "f**k off" in reply. Nothing like a bit of banter between players and fans !! lol

I suppose I am not so blinkered to judge his performance on the fact that he "it putting a lot more effort in this season", "looks really up for it this season" etc. He should have been doing those things from day one We paid £6.5m for him. He is supposedly a "flying winger" nicknamed TGV who should be beating average Championship full backs for fun and putting crosses into the opposition's penalty area. He is NOT. Yes, he chases back and runs around more than he used to; but, I am sorry, I expect a lot more from a £6.5m player

PS None of the observations re being blinkered etc are aimed at you, or anyone on here. More to do with what I hear from fans trying to defend him

With regards to Foobear, and Linda for that matter, they both seemed shit scared to go past the FB. Unlike Forrest who went to the byline several times in the first half and put in decent low crosses that caused us all sorts of problems at the back, we went 20-30m into their half and just slung a hopeful ball across the box, often whether we had any one in there or not. One of Foobear crosses was so bad it didnt even count as a cross it was an eddie waring 'up n under', sorry ID that will mean nothing to you but it was woeful!

We need Taylor back very quickly, get Cole in the centre with Baldrick playing off him and Nolan feeding in behind, otherwise Noble will end up as top scorer all from the pen spot!
