Didn't perform well first half but don't think we deserved to be 3 down at the break.

A young speed merchant with 2 worldys in the first half and a penalty where the defender has slid to block a cross and its hit his arm which was away from his body so always going to be given.

Second half much better so taking positives from winning the second half 1-0 lol

I didn't see that one coming mate, we got back on track after 3 defeats on the spin. Bogey side Gosport at home
on Saturday they beat us 3 times last season.

BASINGSTOKE Town have launched an audacious bid to sign Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

The 34-year-old, whose previous clubs include Barcelona and AC Milan, is currently a free agent after leaving Atletico Mineiro in his homeland.

Representatives from Town have been in contact with Ronaldinho’s brother, Roberto De Assis, who also acts as the player’s agent, offering him a contract at The Soccer AM Stadium. Flights to England and accommodation are thought to be included as part of the package.

Simon Hood, Basingstoke Town’s marketing director, said: “Discussions have been had, and there is an offer on the table. Now it is up to Ronaldinho to decide whether he wants to take us up on it.

“He is on a free transfer and if he wants to get into English football, I cannot think of a better way to do that than by signing for Basingstoke Town.”

Two other English clubs are reported to have made bids to sign the forward, who has also attracted interest from Indian teams.


Ronaldinho scored 33 goals in 97 appearances for Brazil and is best known in this country for scoring the goal that knocked England out of the 2002 World Cup, lobbing David Seaman with a long-range free-kick

The marketing feller we have is pretty good, has already got 8-9 new sponsors this season, I think this is just a way of getting more local sponsors to sit up and take a look
The fact that is on the BBC sports site, Sky and ESPN etc
If it gets another 40 people through the gates just by creating an interest its a result, and cost nothing

Simon was given a job in June, basically raise the profile of the club
With the soccer AM malarky and this he is doing exactly as instructed

Well Ronaldinho ended up in Mexico, but the publicity gained was all positive , Even Barca Fans now know who Basingstoke FC are, Top PR work from Simon
weather that results in additional interest from local companies in the area we shall see but for free advertising it was top notch

Basingstoke 2 - 1 Boreham Wood

We gave Boreham far too much respect in the first half and got outclassed
Second half give it all and came from 1 down and pretty much battered them in the second

back up to 3rd

HARRY ELMES BACK AFTER HORROR LEG BREAK

Great news dude, ive seen H over the ground a few times this season having a warm up with the boys.

Hope he gets back to full fitness, defenders couldn't cope with him in the league below before his injury so would love to see how he does in the Conference South.
