BRISTOL City boss Keith Millen has swooped to sign highly-rated West Ham United defender Jordan Spence on loan.
And the 20-year-old right-back is expected to make his debut in Saturday's npower Championship clash against Coventry City at the Ricoh
Millen made his move after learning that experienced skipper Louis Carey will miss the rest of the season with a fractured skull, sustained in last Saturday's 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United.
Injuries to Cole Skuse and Christian Ribeiro, both of whom have played on the right side of defence previously this season, finally forced Millen's hand. Refused permission to sign Spence in January, City's manager asked Hammers boss Avram Grant a second time on Wednesday night and was told 'yes'.
Spence has agreed a 28-day loan initially, but is expected to remain at Ashton Gate until the end of the season
Hopefully he will get some regular 1st team football under his belt
