Just watch the Europe game which was painful. Can't help start to think that this season is going to be tough.

Been saying the same since the Domzale away game. It is like everyone, players and fans alike, are thinking "it will be alright when Payet (and to a lesser extent Lanzini) is back. He is not the saviour. Wake up and smell the coffee lads

Re: Worried about start of season.
Tbh I`m not worried at all as when you think about it we have a lot of injuries at the moment and once all the players come back from Injury we will be fine.
Yea both the Chelsea n Thursday game we played poor but we will only improve as the season goes on Imo

Re: Worried about start of season.
We can but hope Arran. Some of the injuries are long term, Carroll's way of playing means he is odds on to get i jured or suspended. Antonio is being played out of position, no creativity in midfield, CB's look like bambi on ice at times, we can't take the chances we are creating, and still cannot beat teams with far less skill than us. I see no reason to worry, oh wait ive been a West Ham fan for 50 years. We're doomed, (or at the very least going to struggle all season)

Re: Worried about start of season.
Really worry about Bilic decision making. Antonio at RB really? This one weaken us in attack as well as defence.
Now he is playing Valencia. Player can't even tie his own boot laces
Our proceding in the transfer market have at the moment not gone well, may improve but it does mean spending money on good players which our board, I feel, seem to be reluctant to do.
Then our injury problems seem to be very high with us losing key players which we don't seem to have replacements for. How we are going to survive playing European and the Premier league football with this weaken squad I don't know and then to lose your most expensive player after 20 minutes with him out for 4 month seems to have put the writing on the wall.
Let's hope we play a lot better tomorrow.

Re: Worried about start of season.
In some ways I do think board were wrong to come out and make it clear that we were after a World class striker as all that did was make clubs think that they could ask for what they wanted and we would pay it as we were desperate which I think was the case with Ayew Imo.

Re: Worried about start of season.
I think you are right Arran at times it seems our transfer activities are just a game that Mr Sullivan is playing to get himself in the news. I understand about wanting to keep the fans on side, but if your plan is to get a world class striker, why buy one who isnt? Whose price is vastly over inflated because the seller k ows we are desperate to get a 'name'. Dont get me wrong I wish Ayew well and a speedy recovery, a long and successful career in football. I just dont think he is the marquee player we were trying to sign. I think we may havexa better prospect with Jo Chelli providing he can adapt to the premier league as quickly as Lanzini did

Re: Worried about start of season.
Got to say I was upset with yesterday's performance.
In the first half we went backwards mores times then going forward. Our passing in their half was terrible which led to our fullbacks being out of position when they scored. Better in the second half but it just did not look like we could score.
I'm glad we are out, with this squad we are going to struggle this year and at the moment may only just keep our place in the PL.

Re: Worried about start of season.
Really diabolical that. As billic himself said, we basically lost a cup final. How did we hope to progress in terms of attracting and retaining better players when a ex Bartley player dumps us out before we even get to the exciting stage. If fans wonder why lacazette didn't join us, rewatch that.

IMHO, I Think Billic was under orders to lose...although he probably played the best team available, progressing in this tournament was not an option considering the injuries we have.... We are going to struggle for the foreseeable future!

Re: Worried about start of season.
The new players that have come in apart from Masuaku and Fletcher have looked very average.
Nordveit has been invisible and it showed massively last night, Noble, no matter whether you rate him or not would be wanting the ball all the time. This bloke has looked the complete opposite.
Feghouli got a goal before his injury but I'm not expecting much from him.
Tore apart from one cross for the goal against Bournemouth has looked like great business.......in the fact that we didn't buy him straight away.....shocking so far.
Calleri is young, inexperienced and struggled to finish so far. Possibly end up out on loan somewhere.
Ayew we cant even comment on because of him lasting all of 35 minutes.
The latest new boy Edimilson Fernandes has played 48 games in the Swiss league....another youngster who I've never heard of.
People keep going on about the new stadium and new players coming in to take us to the next level but we are either signing players for the future or players that nobody else seems to be after.
If we wanted to push on they would have gone out and broke the bank whatever it took to get proven players in.
Now we are out of Europe will we see the likes of Oxford and Burke again apart from a League Cup game maybe ?
All in all a very worrying start to the season where everything that can go wrong has gone wrong.
Good job we already have 3 points on the board otherwise I'd be feeling even worse.

Loan out a player who is on loan to us? Interesting concept dude !Kray JR wrote:The new players that have come in apart from Masuaku and Fletcher have looked very average.

Gold said in May he sees no reason why we couldn't win the tournament. No offence but I find orders to lose from the top brass a bit far fetched. The less comfortable truth is we fine an England and fell apart when it mattered....

Re: Worried about start of season.
Nope. That's one balmy conspiracy theory too far I would imagine the owners are quietly seething that we won't get European clubs playing West Ham London at the London StadiumNamhammer wrote:IMHO, I Think Billic was under orders to lose...although he probably played the best team available, progressing in this tournament was not an option considering the injuries we have.... Re: Worried about start of season.
Last Season after 3 games we had 3 points this year after 3 Games we also have 3 Points so I don't understand why people are moaning etc !?!
We have a lot of Star Players out injured or some that are Just starting to come back so we were always going to struggle for the first few games - Yea losing to Astra for second year running was unacceptable but in the long term it could be a blessing for us as we clearly haven't got the squad to compete in both the Europa and Prem.
I believe that once Payet-Lanzini-Fegoulie-Sakho-Carroll-Ayew-Cresswell etc all get back fit and in the team we will be back to playing our best and being the West ham of last year !
