Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand could be set for a return to former club West Ham, according to The Daily Mirror.
Ferdinand left Upton Park for the north east at the end of the summer transfer window in 2008 for a fee believed to be around £8 million.
This season he has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats but West Ham may require his services, according to the report, should Matthew Upson leave on a free this summer.
Ferdinand, 26, has not always been a regular at the Stadium of Light and Steve Bruce may let him go to reignite his career.
West Ham have struggled this season despite their recent resurgence. They currently lie 17th in the Premier League table just six points away from ninth position but two points off the bottom.
