Reading lengthened their incredible winning streak to eight games after beating Leicester 3-1, and in doing so moved level on points with second placed West Ham who could only draw with Doncaster.

Mikele Leigertwood, Jason Roberts and Simon Church netted for the Royals before Neil Danns grabbed a consolation strike for the Foxes.

The Hammers had taken the lead in their 1-1 draw with the Rovers thanks to Kevin Nolan in the ninth minute but James Coppinger nicked a 73rd minute equaliser to deny Sam Allardyce’s side victoy.

Those two sides, though, continue to chase Southampton who racked up their 20th win of the season by beating Barnsley 2-0 at St Mary’s.

Nigel Adkins’ men have hit form again after a patchy spell and a double from youngster Adam Lallana gave them all three points and ensured they remain unbeaten in nine games.

Brighton, another of the Championship’s in-form sides, continued their 12-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 win over crisis club Portsmouth.

Spanish veteran Vicente scored two late goals as the shot up to 5th in table.

Nottingham Forest continued their recent resurgence with a 3-1 over Millwall at the City Ground.

Gareth McCleary, Danny Higginbotham and Andy Reid struck for the Tricky Trees while Darius Henderson netted for the Lions.

The scoreline was also 3-1 at London Road as Peterborough beat play-off contenders Blackpool.

Watford moved themselves a step closer to safety with a 2-1 win away at Derby County.

Young midfielder Sean Murray and Troy Deeney scored early on before Ben Davies scored a reply for the Rams who drop to fifteenth after being leapfrogged by today’s opponents.

Play-off chasing Hull City drew their fifth game in a row as they let a two-goal lead slip against Ipswich.

Robbie Brady and Robert Koren gave them a 2-0 lead but two strikes in three minutes from Grant Leadbitter ensured the Tractor Boys got a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

In the day’s other games Coventry held sixth placed Birmingham City to a 1-1 draw, while Burnley and Crystal Palace also drew 1-1.
