If Arsenal can persuade West Ham to go for this deal, it will confirm that Arsene Wenger, as Alex Ferguson suggested in the summer, would make an excellent poker player. West Ham are keen to boost their striking options and are thinking about a loan move for the Arsenal outcast Marouane Chamakh. Arsene Wenger has had to accept that Abou Diaby may never be able to play many games for the Gunners and Mohamed Diame is reported to be one of the dynamic midfielders that may be brought to the the Emirates in January.

The 25-year old midfielder has been immense for the Hammers and his box to box style is similar to that of Diaby. He is currently injured, but will be fit again in January, just in time for Arsenal to take advantage of the buy out clause of around £4 million in his contract. The Senegalese international is not the big name that some Arsenal fans are craving, but he has proved himself in the Premier league.

Wenger has seen enough of Chamakh who was woeful again in the cup defeat by Bradford City. He started well at Arsenal, however, and Sam Allardyce likes his kind of player (tall and rubbish). Wenger will try to make Chamakh’s move to West Ham a permanent one and he could make it a straight swap. Just don’t start laughing openly at the Hammers until the deal is done.

Do these prats have any idea at all about Gold, Sullivan, Brady and Allardyce? Whatever else they may be, these are NOT people that get stitched up, you tossers.....

"That's why West Ham fans love him, those long, penetrating, weavey runs. He gets into the positions so often that if we can work on the finishing and final pass we could be talking about a really top player."

Isn't it great to see that Sam is capable of seeing players weaknesses and work on them. I know it sounds obvious but in the past I haven't always been confident our managers could do that.

Chamakh started brilliantly at Arsenal but burnt out by the first Christmas he was there. Lack of fitness? Not used to so many games? Ruined by Wenger? Who knows?

He is a player who thrives on crosses. We have players who (supposedly) are in the team to provide such crosses. Sadly none of them can do it properly. Until we solve that problem and stop Noble from taking every set-piece Chamakh would be as wasted here as Carroll is, but he may give us cover for the tree until Carroll is back to fitness

Note of caution - if he is away at the African Cup of Nations with Morocco in January what's the point of signing him?

My main problem with this bloke is he is exactly the sort of player Sam likes to have around the club, but only uses sporadically, usually as a sub. so we'd only be buying another benchwarmer - which is not what we need at the moment.

I have a feeling that BFS has given up on Maiga so maybe he is looking for a short-term replacement to warm the bench !

I can't say I blame him, Tone. Maiga is far too lightweight & looks like a bit of bedwetter. His only real purpose is to try to snatch a goal when we are holding on to a lead. Fair enough, he's got 2 through a breakaway & when we were leading comfortably but how often are we in that position?. Not a bloke you'd want next to you in the trenches!

In his defence he has not been given a starting berth in his proper position (up front) yet. He is clearly not comfortable as the wide man in a 3 pronged attack in a 4-3-3. He cannot keep possession and is easy to read as he always favours his left foot. It is not easy for foreign players to adapt to English football at the best of times, but to not to get a run in the position you are used to must be double tough

Let's see how he does for the rest of the season. He may, of course, have a poor attitude in training in which case BFS may wish to offload him

Cant remember where I saw it because was in a rush but rumours are that City will Allow lescott to go out on loan for rest of season in january ... If this is true then surely it got to be worth BFS trying to bring to Upton park ?!??

I would try tbh think he is a decent CB

West Ham have started negotiations with Arsenal to sign out of favour striker Marouane Chamakh.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to offload the Morrocan in the January transfer window as it will free up space in their squad as well as get rid of his high wage bill.

Chamakh has been out of favour at the Emirates Stadium for almost two and a half seasons after starting brightly at the club when he arrived from Bordeaux on a free transfer and is yet to play a minute of Premier League football this season.

Goal.com reports that West Ham chiefs feel that the £90,000 a week wages going to Andy Carroll could be better spent else where after he has struggled with injury this season and they have identified Chamakh as they ideal replacement. They would be able to strike a deal up with Arsenal quickly considering their eagerness to offload him.

His last game for the club is likely to have been in the dismal Capital One Cup exit at Bradford City last week, when he missed a penalty in the shoot-out.

Arsenal will also listen to offers for Andrey Arshavin, Andre Santos, Johan Djourou, Sebastien Squillaci and Emmanuel Frimpong in the January window.

Maybe Sam has seen something we aint or can bring back the player he once was confu
