Injuries
Reports saying that Downing is out for 3 weeks with a leg injury and that Joe Cole has a grade 3 hamstring tear ruling him out for 6 weeks. Diarra is out for the season and Andy Carroll hasn't kicked a ball in anger since April

Re: Injuries
downings injury gives Morrison a chance to show what he can do again, for me he was the only bright spark in a sea of shit against stoke. all depends on wether they continue to play mr miagi upfront like he is andy carroll if we do then we wont get anywhere, if we at least try and play to a way better suited for him then we have a chance although i do admit that playing RVT gives rather than mr miagi gives us a better chance, all imo of course

Re: Injuries
Big gamble signing him , quality player but way too injury prone ,personally I would have looked elsewhere . I often wonder too why Liverpool sold him at such a loss and why the Geordies never bought him back at the cut price that they could have had him for .alfiehammer wrote:I thought I read that Carroll might be ready to play some part against soton.

Re: Injuries
I am a big fan of carrolls, ask was of Ashton and Hartson; I like the big strong combative striker type role and think he adds real quality to the side. But I'd like to see capable back up to him for the times he is injured and I'd like to see a real fox in the box striker up top with him. The heskey and Owen type, Quinn and Phillips type partnership. I also think players perform much better when they got real competition for places. A lack of it cost us our premiership status the first time around with what I thought was our best ever team (not squad) of players.

Re: Injuries
Elliott Lee, like Sam Baldock and Nicky Maynard before him, would have a tough ask up front on their own if Collins and Reid insist on lumping the ball from back to front 7/10 times they get the ball at their feet I am afraid

Re: Injuries
OUR transfer policy. All the fans (me included) called out for the swift permenant signing of Carroll. We all knew he was a bit (!) injury prone. And we basically knew Carroll would be most of our transfer kitty gone. Through sod law it seems to have kicked us square in the knackers, from this point onwards I'd just be happy to stay upCampo wrote:young jack confirmed an injury

Re: Injuries
Now what happens? Maiga? Hmmmmmm.
The only man who is confident right now and scoring goals is Ravel Morrison, in pre-season and friendlies.
That's all we have.
We need to fit him into the team somehow, but we'd have to leave Maiga in as he's the only striker, so something has to give.
Either we drop Cole, our Capton or Diame, OR we go 4-6-0.
We're fucked.

Re: Injuries
I would say leave Nolan out for a couple of games and play Morrison there instead, as we could do with his pace & skills, might just be our only hope of a goal with AC out.Dave M wrote:Now what happens? Maiga? Hmmmmmm.

Great idea - our best striker's out so next we'll leave out last season's top scorer!

Re: Injuries
Are you being serious? Nolan scored 10 goals for us last season and was our top scorer; and you want to leave him out for an unproven kid?shaun of the thread wrote:I would say leave Nolan out for a couple of games and play Morrison there instead, as we could do with his pace & skills, might just be our only hope of a goal with AC out.Dave M wrote:Now what happens?
