Loving Noble stepping up to cover his Captain's absence....working his nuts off.

Would like to see at least one of the new boys on for the second half.

Good goal by the Tree, Noble playing really well as is Foobear. taking the game to them just hope we can keep at them in the second half and BFS makes some decent subs at the right times. defence look fairly sound with O'Brien and Faye doing well. Pikes dont look that much even with an extra man. Nolan is a dick, but his last suspension was for 5 yellows so hopefully he just misses three games for a straight red.

Lots of energy and heart needed in the second half, noble can really make a name for himself today by leading from the front.

    Kin ell glad thats over.

Wasnt impressed when I saw the starting 11, it looked like a damage limitation team.

Nolan....braindead, after all the talk of two footed challenges why chance it ?

Although saying that if we had stayed 11 v 11 would we have had the usual poor performance ?

    Great performance in the end.

Great proformance from the team ! But IMO i dont think Nolan`s red card was a red card ... the player he was going into the tackle with was also going in two footed like Nolan Evil or Very Mad

Ohwell we won !! Stay top of the league and with peterborough up next WH Flag

With no Nolan inthe team for at least 3 Games I would put this team against peterborough at least anyway :
Green,McCartney,Tomkins,Reid,O`Brien,Taylor,Noble,Diop/Lansbury,Faubert,Cole,Maynard SUBS:O`Neil,Vaz Te,Baldock,Collison,Lansbury/Diop/Carew - If Diop is out then start lansbury and have Carew on the bench instead of lansbury WH Flag

When they announce the team and 3 centre half were playing I thought that was it.
Knew Tomkins would play a holding role in midfield and was wondering if the game was lost before we had even kick a ball. Game kicked off and we were not doing well. Nolan sent off after 10 minutes and I thought this game is now lost. Bit of a 10 minute rocking spell then we started playing with Noble doing well.In fact all 10 started playing well without our captain which I felt was telling us something.
Silly to give a goal away but we won in the end. Enjoyed my first time of seeing Millwall defeated for the first time.

With hindsight we could have enjoyed that game, as it was I died a thousand deaths!

Credit to the whole team after dick'ead was sent off. Great goal from Cole. Shame we couldn't
keep a clean sheet, but pleased to see our immediate reply to their equaliser.

I always knew Noble had it in him..... awesome performance. clap

Yesterday before the game, for me, it was all about the result, bearing in mind where I live and the fact that most of my team mates on a Sunday are Scum supporters. Although none of them actually go to games West Ham United V Millwall/scum/wank - Page 2 3725042725

Like most of you when I saw the team sheet I was totally deflated. 3 centre halves and only one striker. I actually thought it would be Faye who would play in the "Diop" role as he has played midfield plenty of times before. So it was a surprise to see JT as the holding player

We started the game terribly, Rob Green conceding a corner in the first minute when he bundled a simple rolling ball out of play. From the corner one of their smallest players had a free header which went wide. I was already fearing the worst. Especially as the players did not seem to know where they were supposed to be playing.

Then after 8 minutes the whole game changed. Kevin Nolan put in only his second real challenge of the season when he lunged two-footed at Jack Smith. The child ref could not wait to get his red card out and sent Nolan off

For a few minutes after that we looked shell-shocked and could not gain or keep possession. Then Mark Noble just took charge of the midfield, Julien Faubert woke from a slumber and started putting himself about. Noble seemed to relish the fact that it was down to him to lead from the front, having been given the armband when Nolan went off. He was immense. It was as if the shackles had been taken off him and he did not have the annoyance of he and Nolan continually getting in each other's way as they seem to do in a 3 man central midfield

Although we did not have the bulk of possession (as you would expect when being a man down) when we did have it we used it intelligently and only resorted to the long ball to Cole when we needed to, which was very encouraging. When we did not have the ball our shape was good. Cole was continually doing "doggies" between the centre halves and we had two solid banks of four behind him. Millwall, for all their possession, did not seem to know how to break us down and rarely threatened at all.

Then on the stroke of half time we won a free kick - possibly our first one of the entire half - and when the ball came in it was flicked on and Cole rose highest to nod the ball home. The ground erupted. 1-0 to the Cockney Boys. HT 1-0

We were first out for the second half and looked up for it. The ineffective Collison was replaced by Matt Taylor who took Jack's place on the left side of midfield

In the second half we were even better, and although the possession stats will probably favour Millwall, most of that possession was them going from side to side with the ball as they could not break us down. Faubert saw a header hit the top of the bar which would have sealed things. We looked comfortable until..........Faye had a mental abomination

Instead of just clearing a ball which may or may not have been heading out of play for a goal kick he tried to shield it out and failed. The ball fell to Liam Trotter on the edge of the box and he sent a looping volley into the top corner. Green had no chance. All that hard w**k undone by one idiotic lapse of concentration. The Pikeys went mad and we were shell-shocked. 1-1

Then two minutes later a ball came over from Matt Taylor which David Forde chose to punch when catching it would have been easier (probably why he never got a game for us when he was here!). It fell nicely to Winston Reid who caught it beautifully on the volley and smashed it in from 20 yards. 2-1 to the Cockney Boys

There were still over 20 minutes to go but we kept pressing for another goal. Sensing that attack was the best form of defence with only 10 men. Carlton Cole, having run himself into the ground was replaced by the debutant Ricardo Vaz Te and Faubert - who also covered every blade of grass, was replaced by Gary O'Neil. Then apart from a few hairy moments from corners, a low cross-shot which Green inexplicably spilled but recovered, and a rasping shot from their right back which went narrowly wide we held out for a famous victory. FT 2-1

    Ratings

Green 7/10. A couple of dodgy moments but they did not cost us
    O'Brien 7/10. Solid
Faye 7/10. A rock at the back. Shame about his role in their goal which loses him a mark
Reid 9/10. Really came in to his own in a "backs to the wall" occasion. Intercepted well and mostly distributed it well too. Oh, and he scored the winner !
McCartney 7/10. Got forward well and never looked troubled going the other way
Collison 5/10. Really never in the game. It all looks too fast and too physical for him right now. Needs a spell on the sidelines
    Nolan 4/10. Enough said
Noble 9/10. Simply immense. Tackled, harried and led by example. A really outstanding midfield performance
Tomkins 8/10. Looked as if he had played the holding midfield role all his career. A sign of a very talented footballer. Glad we have signed him up for another 5 years
Faubert 8/10. Worked his socks off and nearly scored, what would have been, a rare headed goal
Cole 9/10. Alone up front for almost the whole game. Did not give their back four a minute's piece. Was continually being held and fouled by Darren Ward yet got NO protection from an over-fussy referee. A great display of a lone-striker role

    Subs:
Taylor - on for Collison 7/10. Showed us what we have been missing when he is out of the side
Vaz Te - on for Cole 6/10. A couple of mazy runs with step-overs culminating in weak shots
O'Neil - on for Faubert 6/10. Came on and took over from Faubert in shoring up our right hand side

That was my view of the game in any case. But, for me it was all about the result

    West Ham United 2-1 Millwall

agree with most of that mate,
also have to agree with Collison being out of it , cant see what he brings to the game these days, before the injury he was full of running and looked ok. can not see Sam keeping him in the summer

and as you say all about the result, as they all are now

another plus note, i can give the wanker saints fans in my office a bit of stick after hearing all bloody season how they are going to piss this league, you would think they have never watched a full season of football before
