West Ham are set to hold talks with the agent of Swedish international midfielder Jiloan Hamad, according to Sport Bladet.
KUMB.com [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] how United were being linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who is out of contract with his current club Malmo at the end of this year. And according to Ferhat Cifci, Hamad's agent and representative, the two parties are set to discuss a potential permanent transfer later today.
"We will meet to talk with each other and find out how West Ham's offer looks," Cifci told Sport Bladet. "It is a good discussion to get into but nothing is certain until they have agreed terms with Malmo. Therefore, we will not discuss any personal terms.
"If Jiloan continues to play like he did the last time, even bigger clubs than West Ham may become interested. We have plenty of time before the transfer window closes and a new one opens in January."
Hamad, who is primarily employed as a winger has less than six months remaining on the two-year contract he signed with MFF back in 2011 and is therefore allowed to speak to other clubs.
Last season (2012) he scored six goals and contributed nine assists for Malmo in the Allsvenskan, whilst he was an unused substitute in Sweden's famous 4-2 win against England at the Friends Arena in November 2012.
In this year's Allsvenskan (which runs from March 2013 to November 2013), Hamad has already scored five times whilst providing a further four assists from the wing.
I reckon we had to wait to see if Malmo made it past Swansea in the Europa League qualifier before they would consider selling. They didn't make it !

Re: Summer 2013 silly season
If we do end up signing Downing then I suppose it will be a decent signing for us and will help us cement another top 10 finish ,
I just hope that If we do get Downing he shows the form he showed at Villa and Middlesbrough as he was a decent player then but he was useless at Liverpool !
This now means that since Rodgers took over at Liverpool we have brought Carroll , Cole and downing from them does Rodgers secretly like West ham
So for the Cardiff game we could have a Midfield of Jarvis..Nolan..Diame..Noble..Downing ???

Re: Summer 2013 silly season
Vaz Te statement:
“In my 10 years as a professional football player I have never submitted a transfer request nor issued a statement. However, I am frustrated at West Ham United Football Club. Therefore it is with a heavy heart that I submit a transfer request and look to join a club where my approach to the game will be appreciated. Last season I was asked to change positions for the benefit of the team even though I had just scored 24 goals. The main objective was to finish top 10 in the Premier League and I followed my instructions to the best of my ability as the club always comes first. As a result even though I was injured for three months no other player made more assists than me and no other winger scored more goals than me. In addition, since I joined this football club on 31st January 2012 no other player has scored more goals than me in all official competitions to date. Statistics are evident to all, despite this, it has been made obvious to myself and my representatives that I am not in the manager’s plans. Therefore it is with a heavy heart that I submit a transfer request and look to join a club where my approach to the game will be appreciated.”
He makes some very pertinent points - would be very disappointed to see him leave. I was really hoping he'd start up front instead of Maiga on Saturday but Vaz must have looked at Wednesday and Thursday in training and seen that maybe they are setting up to play Maiga again. Seeing that would baffle and frustrate me too!

Its a shame that he is off and I feel he never really got that chance up front instead of being stuck out on the right , he had more to give IMO

Re: Summer 2013 silly season
It is sad to see it come to this. He will always have a special "place" with us for his performances in the Championship and his winner at Wembley
It is true that he was played out of position last season. but his body language and apparent lack of effort probably contributed to Sam thinking that he was not in his plans for this season. Like Dan I see him as a centre forward rather than a wide player and I would have like to see him start up front instead of Maiga - who makes Vaz Te look dynamic with his lack of movement and mobility
On the plus side if he does go it frees up wages for us to bring a striker in on loan
Good luck Vaz

Re: Summer 2013 silly season
I doubt that this statement was opposed by the club-more encouraged because of the wage bill.
I am Maiga would be on higher wages though! Shame he can't be encouraged to jump ship!

Re: Summer 2013 silly season
He'll be snapped up. As has been said , he'll always be fondly remembered if only for the "Umpteen Million Pound Goal", but his performances have not always been consistent, he's not getting any younger, and we could perhaps do better for his wages. I know Maiga is disappointing and still doesn't seem to have come to terms with what the PL demands, but he could improve - RVT won't.
