Re: Non-League Thread
Shocking weather at our place yesterday mate, it was absolutely hammering down by the end of the game against Bromley. Got beaten by a good side, we have gone from one week looking at how strong our starting 11 and bench look to a bench yesterday of a goal keeper, which we don't usually do, the assistant manager who had retired, a new kid who signed Xmas day, one suffering with flu and one who had a groin injury.
The inevitable fixture congestion will happen but we could do with the weather doing us a favour with Gosport away tomorrow.

Haha love that mate, haven't they just changed management after being in a fairly good position in the league ?
A solid point for us away at Gosport today.

Re: Non-League Thread
they changed the manager about a month ago but the arrogance throughout the whole club remains the same,
Fans, players and club all think they have the automatic right to be at least one league above, most if not all the players are full time, they have a squad of around 25 to 27 where most of us have 18 players
they are now starting to get a reality check and realise this league is a bitch to get out of, they are now 10 points behind Boreham and 8 behind Bromley
They are the spuds of non-league
Good point away at Gosport

Re: Non-League Thread
We had a power cut against them last season when they were 2-0 up....not just the ground the surrounding area as well.
The keeper at the time tweeted something about our tin pot club lol.
Always laugh when they fupp up now, especially when they had an away game called off late the other week because of a power cut

Result of the day to Concord
as for our lot up to Third
Rafi Razzak
is having a party
Bring your vodka
Bring your charlie
:bounce:
Going to be honest here, Hope we do not get promoted , need 3-4 years in the play off positions to get a squad capable of staying in the conf prem or we will be a laughing stock ala Hyde who got promoted a couple of years ago to the prem
last season Hyde finish with 10 points
this season at the bottom of the conf north and 10 points from safety
lot to be said for building a club slowly with integrity , on a sure footing
sensible policy in playing staff and management

but you wouldn't come back down again though, I've just read that the club's motto is 'Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum', means 'No stepping back'.

Blackpool pals just told me about AFC Fylde, based between Blackpool & Preston, healthily ambitious. May well be Conference Premier nest season. Top of conference North on a roller ... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

how are average gates at the moment ? ... just wondered.
And if not at the Camrose, where do locals go - Reading, Saints, Pompey, Bournemouth., Swindon??

gates around 500 this season, but the capacity of 5000 is needed to move up, and FA cup games can pull a lot in
most locals are London based support as Basingstoke become a London over spill town in the mid sixties

Do you keep an eye on Staines too?
The youth trainer over here is an ex-Staines player - I think he had a few games with Basingstoke too. Steve Beeks is his name - I think he was a bit of a "character" in football down that neck of the wood.
He's done wonders with the youth players & structure at IFK & has also become a bit of a mate of mine since he moved here.

Nope, to be honest Staines is just outside the Reading 'shere of influence'. But I'd hope to be considered a good genuine footy fan who treats about everyone equal!!!

Report from The Tilehurst End
Rob Dickie/Stuart Moore - Basingstoke Town (Vanarama Conference South) Appearances: 3/26
Last week, Basingstoke Town announced the loan capture of another of Reading's youth teamers, this time, U18 centre back Rob Dickie. Rob was instrumental in last season's FA Youth Cup semi-final run, partnering Dom Hyam in the heart of our solid back line. The run also carried individual reward for Rob, a he earned an England U18 call up for April's friendly against Germany.
Rob Dickie made his professional debut on boxing day to begin his month loan for his new club as his Basingstoke side, coupled with Stuart Moore in goal, saw off Staines Town 2-1, with goals from Louie Soares and David Ray seeing Town home. Dickie was said to have had a solid debut and did everything that was asked of him, whilst Stuart was said to have had no chance with the goal and made one decent save but found it hard in difficult conditions. 'Stoke then travelled to Kent to take on Ebbsfleet looking to make it 3 wins in 3 against the same opposition this season. Town went 1-0 up after just 19 minutes as Rice put them ahead, before Ebbsfleet equalised shortly before the break. However, second half goals from Dunn, Ray, McAuley (p) and Bird gave Basingstoke a 5-1 victory as they took home all three points and rose to 6th in the league.
Stuart was quoted as having looked shaky at times in the first half but made two outstanding saves, the second of which at 1-1 had a massive bearing on the game. Rob Dickie was also impressive, but was quoted as having tried to over-play at times, giving the ball away in bad areas, but looked solid when he concentrated on defending, making some vital tackles and headers. Basingstoke's final game of 2014 saw them face up against Staines for the second time in a week. Both Dickie and Moore started as Town finished the year on a high, winning 3-0 with goals from Macklin, Flood and Cox.
They finished 2014 in 3rd place and have now won all three games since Dickie signed for the club. He was given the man of the match award in the local paper and was said to "look like Basingstoke's answer to Franz Beckenbauer at times." He set up the first goal with a fine pass and created two or three other opportunities by running the ball out of the defence. Stuart was also said to have made two decent saves when called upon.

Funny that mate, I was going to ask my mate (one of the directors) about Basingstoke's relationship with Reading FC, We do seem to be getting a closer one together, the Reading U21's are playing a fair few games at the Camrose over the last couple of seasons along with a few Reading U21's being loaned in.

yep, and I understand that Reading FC themselves are happy with more link-up. Good for the region ...
