Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
yay... 6:00am kick-off... the day before me birthday...
just brings back horrifying memories of the game against ManUre... that was ON me birthday and I had to get up at 4:00am to drive to Santa Monica to get to the bar where the game was showing... to be only one of 2 Hammers in the bar and watch us lose 6-0 to the Red Devils...
this year I shall be getting up at 5:58am, dragging my arse to the living room couch and hoping for a much better result...

Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
I read a prediction on all FA cup games today. This guy expects two suprises: Aston Villa loses to Bournemouth and we lose to Bristol City. Let's just see about that. Aston Villa might lose, but Sam Allardyce is keen on getting on a good cup run, I read. He is even prepared to slip a few places in the premier league if it means that we can get some silverware. One thing is for sure, we should not take this win for granted!

Allardici speaks:
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce insists his players can create history by going all the way in the FA Cup this season.
The Hammers have not lifted the trophy since 1980 and have reached the final just once since the start of the Premier League era.
They take on Sky Bet League One promotion hopefuls Bristol City in the fourth round on Sunday and Allardyce wants his side to convert their excellent league form into cup success this season.
"If it could bring success it would recreate modern history, particularly as we move into a new stadium," Allardyce said.
"I'm sure a lot of West Ham supporters have fantastically fond memories of what we did at Wembley when we got promoted.
"If we can get to a cup final, it's generally for most fans a once in a lifetime occasion."
Allardyce received heavy criticism last year for fielding a youthful side in the third round when they were thrashed 5-0 by Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers have no relegation concerns this season, however, and Allardyce insists his players can give everything to secure a place at Wembley.
"We haven't picked up as many injuries as we might have expected, we've got a full squad ready and raring to get stuck into the FA Cup," Allardyce said.
"I've got no concerns that it will affect the league form at all.
"The FA Cup falls on a Saturday, not midweek, so we have plenty of time between this game and the next game to recover and keep our very good league form up.
"We want to be very, very competitive in this competition. We know the glories of it.
"You have that ultimate goal of being at Wembley and that's one of the most wonderful things you can ever experience in your career."
Allardyce, however, is not expecting an easy ride at Ashton Gate against Bristol City, who are second in League One and have won their last six matches at home.
"FA Cup games are always extremely difficult against lower league opposition, particularly away from home," Allardyce added.
"It's all down to the attitude of the player. If they try to take things lightly, they can get caught cold.
"You have to start on the front foot because there is such excitement - players at Bristol City will play way, way above their best.
"They can produce a one-off performance that causes you a lot of problems."

I drove to Manchester for that, best part of it was doing a conga in the stand, worst bit was driving back to Norfolk with four p***d people who had had a great time despite the score!

Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
I saw some of Bristol City's highlights from their last game and they attacked with pace and are flying high in the league.
I don't think this will be comfortable at all, especially if we start with a slow side.

FA CUP FOURTH ROUND
- Venue: Ashton Gate
- Date: Sunday 25 January
- Kick-off: 14:00 GMT
Coverage: Live on BBC One and online; live text commentary on BBC Sport website and app; live commentary on BBC Radio 5 live
Team news
Bristol City forwards Aaron Wilbraham and Kieran Agard are doubts ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round tie against West Ham.
Defender James Tavernier is cup-tied after playing for parent club Wigan in the previous round.
West Ham defender James Collins is expected to miss out with a back problem. Striker Diafra Sakho also has a back injury and remains sidelined.
But West Ham are expected to name a strong side.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce wants his side to make it to the final, something they have only managed once since the start of the Premier League era.
- The only previous FA Cup meeting between these sides was in the third round in 1969. West Ham won the game 3-2 at Upton Park.
- Bristol City reached the FA Cup final in 1909, where they lost to Manchester United.
- West Ham won the FA Cup three times, though not since 1980. They were more recently beaten on penalties by Liverpool in the 2006 FA Cup final in Cardiff.

Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
Very poor first half, all the effort was from Bristol. Nolan, Noble and Song all very poor in my opinion and any one of them could be replaced by Amalfitano (why he is not on is a mystery? Oh no is not BFS love child must play!).
Need more pace and power and stop them playing second half, otherwise will will be joining the other premiership clubs who have been binned!

Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
ok, so the first half wasn't actually vintage viewing... unless you like building sites in and around Brizzle....
they've been predictably all over us...
we've been a little off our game, passing, etc...
I think we had three chances at goal in the entire half...
so not the best by any stretch... but we're not behind and given what happened yesterday... we're still in with a shout.
coming up for the 2nd half... hopefully it'll all shake out well for us in the end.

nice play from downing linking well with Nolan but his final shot goes well over the top...
1,054 Hammers fans in attendance... only 13,000 in total cos of all the building work going on.
61 minutes gone... still anyone's game.

Re: Bristol v West Ham United FC
Sakho shows great form to bring the ball down, knock it over the head of a defender, run into the box, collect it and his cross just grazes the top of the bar... our best chance by miles... misses by inches.
